Really enjoyed the claypot chicken rice which was a generous portion, with more chicken than expected. The rice was freshly made on the spot after ordering and was so fresh and fragrant and piping hot when I received it. It had strong wokhey and toasted flavor, and was flavorful from the dark soy sauce and the ingredients. There were pieces of soft tender chicken pieces, lapcheong sausage and salted fish in the rice that all complemented the rice. The satay bee hoon was average as the sauce was a little diluted and watery with not enough peanuts.
Overall a delicious lunch! The noodles were chewy and slightly starchy, while the soup was thick and slightly starchy from the noodles too. The ikan bilis, shallots, egg and minced pork were quite generous and fresh and really added flavor to the soup. Portion was okay too and kept me full till dinner.
Got the bowl with almond pandan rice which was only available on Mondays. Got the sweet and sour soya mock meat as main dish, double cheese pumpkin and fried cauliflower. The rice was not too rich in pandan taste, just nice, and the almonds crunch was a good complement. The sweet and sour soya mock meat was also tasty and had generous sauce that went well with the rice. The cheese pumpkin was also soft and tasty and sweet with cheese taste. The fried cauliflower was crispy and salty and had nice crunchy texture.
The omelette was fried till the sides were crispy, which I really enjoyed. It was not too oily or salty. Portion was quite generous as well. The chili was more sweet than spicy, would have preferred more spicy chili.
The bowl of noodles was surprisingly huge and really filling. There were 5 mini meatballs and lots of minced meat given. Noodles were chewy, but was slightly too much for me. Soup was very flavourful and meatballs tasted fresh and tasty.
The portion was really huge! We were allowed to choose 2 vegetables, which I got broccoli and long beans, both were flavourful and fresh. I also got some curry drizzled on the rice, it was not spicy but made the rice more tasty. There was a huge barbecue chicken thigh soaked in the signature black sweet gravy. The chicken was tender while the skin was grilled nicely so it was really tasty and sinful. The gravy was enough for the chicken to be tasty and for the rice to have more flavours on top of the curry. Would definitely get this again for a heavy filling meal.
Got the tomato fusili as the base, which was quite bland alone but went well with the other dishes, like the shimeji mushrooms as the main dish, as it was fried in some gravy. I also got the three side dishes, corn, cheesy pumpkin and fried cauliflower, all were delicious though the corn was ordinary. Good for a light meal.
For $4.5, we get to choose 1 base, 1 main dish and 3 side dishes. I got the cranberries rice as the base, which was very sweet and complemented all the dishes. I got the sweet and sour mock meat as the main dish, and it didn’t taste like meat but more like a soy paste, but was soaked in the sauce which wasn’t very strong in flavor but tasty enough with the rice. I got the deep-fried cauliflower, cheese pumpkin and Mala potatoes as the sides, all of them were delicious, especially the cauliflower as it was crunchy thanks to the batter. The pumpkin was very sweet and soft while some of the potatoes could be a little softer. Overall it was a relatively cleaner and healthier delicious meal.
Super worth it after using burpple beyond! Portion was not too large but just nice. The rice bowl came with a piece of grilled salmon topped with some mentaiko sauce, corn, edamame and an egg which was savory and soft! Salmon was grilled well and the fish meat was tender. The cheeseburger had a nice patty and was served with a portion of crispy fries. The truffle fries were also crispy and had a hint of truffle flavor, and was decent for its price and portion.
Rosti was slightly burnt but was crispy on the outside. The potatoes were nicely salted and marinated and not overly salty/oily. Chicken chop portion was not large but was tender. Chicken skin was crispy too. Coleslaw and sour cream were a good addition to the meal!
The best meechiangkueh I have eaten so far! The peanuts fillings were so generous! They were not overly sweet and fine. The pancake batter was super soft even after it became colder. The salted bean paste pancake was less generous with the fillings. Would definitely come back for the peanut pancake again!
Bak kut teh soup was very tasty with some pieces of pork. It tasted quite herbal. Claypot chicken rice was freshly cooked and sizzling when served. Super delicious especially with the different textures of the rice as some will be more charred.
