A mix of spicy-sour and fragrant dishes with distinct flavours

The Crab Curry is a yellow curry that has large chunks of fresh and sweet crab meat in it. Smothering the soft rice noodles with the thick curry, it was slurpy and comforting with the creaminess and scents of the spices used in the curry.

The pomelo is paired with fried shallots, roasted coconut, peanuts and chilli. It was a refreshing and delicious mix of sweet, sour and salty flavours with a balance of textures. My rants would be for the pomelo to be in chunks for that satisfying citrusy bite and the nuts to be in chopped bits.

Tom Yum Soup with Seafood was creamy and a tad bit fiery but manageable. It was spicy, sour, sweet and savoury that it felt incredibly warm and comforting having it on a rainy day.

The classic Thai Mango Salad had chunks of pomelo that burst with juice, crunchy nuts and a sweet, sour and spicy dressing. It was refreshing with just enough spicy kick to whet an appetite.

A new kid on the Tanjong Pagar stretch lined up with Korean restaurants serving up comfort Thai food. The Tom Yum Mama is a signature dish served in a bubbling pot filled with prawns, mussels, minced meat, noodles and runny eggs simmered in a tom yum broth. The 1 person portion was just nice for two ladies. It was warm and comforting for a rainy day though the broth could be spicier.

A crowd favourite that is not only refreshing but visually enticing as well with its beautiful jewels. It is made with ruby-hued water chestnuts coated in tapioca jelly, a scoop of smooth coconut gelato and sweetened with coconut milk. Served with crushed ice, this tropical cold dessert is sweet, crunchy and creamy; perfect for any hot day.

A must-try and one of Khao Hom's signature, this omelette is inspired by the famous crab omelette by Jay Fai, a Michelin Star restaurant in BKK. Though it is pricely, it is deliciously worth it as we were presented with a large, thick and fluffy eggy roll stuffed with generous amount of real and firm crab meat.

A very affordable dish for its generous portion. Also known as Pad Woon Sen, the glass noodles were stir-fried in a savoury sauce and loaded with prawns and squid with some cut chillies; giving the dish a sweet, sour and salty flavour.

The stir-fried minced beef with basil and chillies eaten with rice was tasty. Other than the sauce being a little salty, the dish was packed with flavour and the long beans added a nice crunch. A bit more spiciness and it would be even more delicious.

Minced beef is stir-fried with chopped long beans, chillies and basil, served over rice with a fried egg on top. The combination of the basil, spicy chilli and fish/soya sauce made this dish appetising with good enough heat for that numbing sensation. I like it that there was an added crunchness from the long beans in each spoonful.

A taste of Bangkok's Thai-style Hainanese chicken rice. The rice was flavourful but not as fragrant as what one can expect from Singapore-styled ones. The chicken was tender and succulent; and unlike the spicy garlicky chilli sauce we are used to, their special sauce was more tangy with chopped ginger and chilli padi. It complemented the rice well with a nice kick to it. Overall worth a try for something different.
