Tried their coconut shake while it was on promotion (300 ml at $2.90) - substantially creamy but with a strong taste of dried coconut which is not to everyoneās liking. Found 25% to be too sweet!
The genmaicha tea latte ($5.80) was a tad too milky for me - I expected a much richer mouthfeel, even though the roasted tea flavour came through cleanly! The lemon mint sencha ($6.30) was bold with its sour tang and burst of mint.
Passionfruit earl grey ($6.30) had a bright citrus flavour which paired nicely with the mellow bergamot! Will ask for less sugar syrup the next time as Iād prefer it more tart. The melon mint jin xuan ($6.30) was a surprising hit - the oolong is deep and slightly bitter, matched by the grainy sweetness of melon and subtle tinge of mint. Definitely one of my favourites!
The honey osmanthus oolong tea ($6.50) was smooth and fragrant, albeit sweet even at 0% sugar. The lemon green tea with aiyu jelly ($6.20) stood in stark contrast - shockingly tart even at 50% sugar. But it grows on you, and the aiyu jelly helps soothe over the sour tang. While pleasant and refreshing, I donāt think the drinks are worth its price - the teas are pre-brewed and stored in dispensers, and flavours are mostly from syrup. Pales in comparison to the espresso-brewed ones, especially at this price point!
Heard lots about the matcha latte ($6.30) and it definitely lived up to the hype! The matcha whisked to order, then poured over milk with some sugar syrup. The matcha is thick and rich, balanced by the sweeter base. Also ordered the peach tie guan yin ($6.60) - I found it lacking in fruity fragrance, although it certainly was refreshing and had a strong tea flavour!
Steeped definitely exceeded all expectations! It may be on the pricier side, but it definitely shows in the quality and fragrance of its drinks. My personal favourite is the pear high mountain oolong ($6.30) - the slightly bitter tea hits first, before mellowing out to the sweetness of pear. Really liked the sandy texture of the pear purĆ©e! The soursop sencha ($6.60) wasnāt sufficiently tart and tasted predominantly like green tea, although there was a good bite in the small pieces of fruit.
The QQ happy family milk tea ($3.50) is my favourite drink to order! A true party with its many toppings - pearls, grass jelly, pudding, lychee jelly and red bean.
Didnāt get our pick of drinks as they had sold out of some flavours by 9 pm! The honey black tea latte ($4.20) was rather disappointing as the artificial sweetness overpowered the tea. It was very thin too, despite being a tea latte! Much preferred the cocoa RSM ($4.20) - tastes exactly like melted chocolate ice cream :-)
I love Chichaās dong ding oolong milk tea ($4.70)!! It has a well-rounded roasted flavour and is thicker than most milk teas. Unfortunately, the outlet ran out of pearls by mid afternoon and I settled for coconut jelly (+ $1) - turned out to be an unsatisfying decision because it tasted exactly like regular konjac jelly, which Iām not a fan of. Grass jelly would have been a better choice!
Second time trying Tiger Sugar and it continues to fall short. The signature brown sugar boba milk ($5.50) holds a substantial amount of ice, which dilutes the milk significantly. The pearls are chewy but lack the warm saccharine richness youād expect.
Bought a voucher for Muyooās brown sugar milk ($4.90) on Shopback! Unfortunately the Raffles City outlet closed at the end of July, and I ended up trudging to Siglap to redeem my voucher. Muyoo has the best brown sugar pearls - chewy and just the right level of sweetness! It remains my favourite amongst the many brands.
Expected the black tea latte ($3.20) to be creamy with a strong tea flavour, but it was rather weak and tepid. Enjoyed the cocoa pearls ($0.70) - they were chewy and with a subtle bitter sweet chocolate taste!
