Brunch
Prawn aglio olio linguine was ok, had a strong butter flavour
Calamari was oily, felt like i tasted more of the breaded exterior
Wagyu beef burger was very average, thought the patty was a bit hard and tasted flat
Truffle fries average
They only serve bottled water (no tap water)
Even with burpple 1 for 1 it's not recommended.. tasted like baked rice that wasnt baked with the tomato sauce (tasted instant) over cold rice
Pies are freshly baked and warm. The crust is flaky and the filling is generous - just abit too salty for me. Love the hard boiled egg and potatoes inside. I tried it one weekend and went back the next weekend, addictive!
Curry puff was good too.
Preferred if it was served warm. Bun could do with more gooey cinnamon filling inside as it felt a little plain/dry. The best part was the candied nuts on top, but i wouldn't order this again. (Prefer the fluffy cinnamon bun from nearby Bread & Hearth)
Coffee was good as usual.
Small place that isn't ideal for long catch-ups as they would ask you (politely) to leave.
Overall i love it's wonderfully complex flavours and texture. The bread was french toast style, which added a sweet and moist dimension to the dish.. the toast was crispy but soft and not soggy! The guamacole added spicy and savoury notes to the dish. The poached eggs were abit overcooked but I could overlook that since the taste was really good. I asked for hollandaise sauce on the side as i didn't want it to overpower the dish.
Find the food here pricey but average. My friend who had the mac & cheese wasn't impressed too. Only worth coming for the coffee.
Scrambled eggs were v creamy but mine were cold. Added avocado and it was nice. Sourdough toast was good too. Place had warm cosy vibes.
Not the place to hang out for long though. After 90 mins they asked us if we had a second order, or if not we had to make space for people on the waiting list... we didn't feel comfortable staying longer so just travelled to another place for drinks where we wouldn't be chased away :p
I liked this, the sausage was quite soft and the subtle flavour grew on me. Went very well with the onion sauce.
Not bad but wouldn't think it is worth the price if not for Burrple Beyond deal. Note that the deal is only available before 5pm.
The Peranakan high tea set came with 2 drinks which was great.
The crostini had blue cheese which i dislike. But other savory items were quite nice. Sweet items were average, i liked the pandan mousse cake best. Scones were abit dry but the spreads (jam, gula melaka kaya) were really good.
Place was spacious which was a welcomed thing. Service was attentive which made the experience more enjoyable. But the chairs and table were not the most ergonomic if i am picky!
Had the Woody Wood Piper while my friend had the Flip and Grill. They were juicy and the side of truffle fries were yummy too. We liked the coffee as well.
Nice quiet place for some comfort food - most likely we will be back!
Loved that they added juicy mushrooms to it.. though I wouldn't come here specially just for this. The highlight was the coffee that came with a nutty fragrance.
