This is hands-down my favorite fried chicken dish of all time. Like move over Popeyes, Texas or even Astons crispy chicken, this is the king to rule them all.
This incredibly aesthetically appealing dish (RM52.90 of RM56.90) is served on a hot plate. 10 fried chicken pieces are available in 4 flavors (you can mix 2 flavors in the same plate), my favorite being the sweet honey mustard which compliments the salty mozzerella cheese. However, the Yangyneom flavor is a must try for those who like a spicy kick in their food. The efficient staff will melt the cheese into a giant puddle and then wrap the chicken pieces in the stringy cheese. There are fries to accompany the cheese as well. The sauces from the chicken flavor the cheese hence making it less jelat.
The chicken is the star and it is mindblowingly delicious. They use boneless chicken thigh which is fried to perfection and incredibly moist and juicy. The chicken is crispy even after being wrapped with the cheese and covered with sauce. A single portion can amply feed 2-3 pax. The cheese also makes the most delicious cheese fries, much better then the artificial Nacho cheese and mayo mixture that fast food fries are topped with. This is the real stuff. And oh boy, it is good.

This butter fish was my favorite dish of the night. Just look at the gorgeous brown sear on the fish. <3
The thick meaty slab of butter fish was served with charred purple cabbage and a bed of crushed potatoes and salsa verde. The fish was perfectly cooked; moist, juicy and packed with a robust but not overpowering flavor. The purple cabbage was well cooked but a tad oily (check out that sheen to it) I'm typically not a fan of overpowering herb-based sauces like salsa verde, but it worked well in this dish. The potatoes soaked up the salsa verde and were extremely flavorful.
I enjoyed my visit to Tropique Cafe because of the attention to detail. From the decor to the refined presentation to the food, to the attentive wait staff to even the kombu butter served with the complimentary sourdough, everything felt perfect and just right. Plus, everything was so affordably priced, with this delicious butter fish costing just RM32.90 :)

My dining partner loves creme brulee so its not a surprise this was his choice of dessert. (RM$18.90) The homemade creme brulee tartlets were served with a side of yuzu infused cream and vanilla ice cream.
The tartlets themselves were reminiscent of egg tarts with their custardy centers and slightly crumbly pastry. It was glazed with torched sugar that provided a delectable crunch. It tasted really good, nostalgic and the balance of textures (creamy brulee with crumbly pastry) was perfect. However I felt that it was missing that creamy richness, melt in your mouth feel that is so classic and so enjoyable in creme brulees.
The yuzu cream and vanilla ice cream provided a delicious addition to the dessert. Especially the yuzu cream, where the yuzu's fruitiness really shone through and added a unique dimension to the classic creme brulee.
