Best Cafes in Sri Hartamas and Mont Kiara
This Scandinavian-inspired cafe is a neighbourhood favourite for coffee and fuss-free breakfast fare. Bookmark this spot if you’re looking for a quiet place to get work done or to do some reading – the cafe provides true hygge (a Danish term for cosiness). Burppler Calie Tang enjoyed the Danish Darling (RM28) for its perfect pairing of smoked salmon, cream cheese and pickled cucumbers. The Versatile Viking (RM18), sliced bananas on spelt bread with a glass of Greek yoghurt and granola is a good option if you want something light. Pair your brekkie with a cup of well-brewed coffee. The large Long Black (RM10) has a pleasant fruity profile that’ll please any coffee drinker.

Known for excellent coffees and scrumptious breakfast plates, this well-loved cafe is a must-visit when in the area. It gets busy on weekend mornings, so swing by for a slightly later meal – brunch is available all day anyway. Stick to the signatures like the Sunny Salmon (RM30) featuring a meaty salmon fish cake served with two crispy carrot rostis and a poached egg. Burppler Alyssia Yu’s favourite is the belly-filling Super Awesome Fry-Up (RM32) – breakfast platter filled with eggs, toast, hashbrowns and more. The Red Beanbag is also home to the former Malaysian barista champ so you can expect quality cups of joe here. We're big fans of the nutty and smooth Piccolo Latte (RM10).

Turn to this cosy cafe in Plaza Damas for hearty food and freshly baked cakes on slow Sunday mornings. Try the famed Dutch Baby Pancakes (RM19) topped with a gorgeous sunny side up, smoked salmon and avocado. Burppler Joey Tee waxes lyrical of its spot-on flavours and the pancake with crispy edges. For a meatier option, get the savoury Australian Roast Rib Eye Sandwich (RM25) loaded with tender, flavourful rib eye slices. You must leave tummy space for their cakes, especially the super moist and buttery No.1 French Butter Cake (RM8).

Pretty in pink, this cafe-kiosk in Plaza Mont Kiara might be small in size, but they make up for it with their power-packed healthy fare! The kitchen is open from 9am, so swing by for a meal after your morning exercise with the girls. The Peanut Butter Toast (RM12) makes for a good snack, while the Quinoa Heaven (RM22) with organic quinoa, kale, fresh veggies and more is simply satisfying. Coffee here is a steal from only RM5 for a black coffee, and RM7 for milk-based drinks.

Boasting three outlets under their belt, this feel-good cafe does not fail to impress at this Mont Kiara branch. If you want to treat the folks to a good meal, pen down this spot for brunch this weekend. You can't go wrong with the buttery French Croissant with Parma Ham and Buffalo Mozzarella (RM27), as well as the My Ra-FT Toast with Home Cured Salmon and Poached Eggs (RM32). If you need your Asian fix, Ra-FT's Vietnamese Pho (RM23) with rich chicken broth is a delightful choice. End your meal with the strong Long Black (RM8), brewed with beans that are roasted in-house.

Serving the Sri Hartamas neighbourhood with wholesome meals for over five years, this cafe is a big hit among families and gym buffs. The Burpple community describes the food as simple and consistently good, and the Wild Honey & Sunny (toast with eggs, RM14) highlights that perfectly. Another community favourite is the Antipesto B’fast Platter (RM33) featuring cold cuts and cheese. The platter comes with a drink, and Burppler Nadia Rosli recommends going with the juice of the day as its freshly made to order.
