No stranger to KL’s dessert scene, Alexis Bistro is most known for two classics: the Tiramisu and Pavlova, both priced at RM17.80 per slice. Those who love fresh flavours should go with Pavlova for its melt-in-your-mouth meringue, light cream and fresh berries. For something richer, the cognac-infused tiramisu cake with dark chocolate chunks, mascarpone, caramelised almonds served with tangy strawberry sauce will have you begging for another slice.

Every visit to Isetan Japan Store at Lot 10 should include a pitstop for dessert at this swanky restaurant on the fourth floor. Forget the menu, you're here for just one thing — the 6th Avenue Cheesecake (RM20). The simple and perfectly creamy cheesecake is good on its own, but even better with the dollop of whipped cream that provides a mild sweetness with each mouthful. Burppler Farah Aziz loved it so much she ordered another slice – you probably should too!

Nestled in Plaza Damas, this humble cafe known for its hearty hot food also doles out delicious AND healthy cakes worth a visit. Set eyes on the gluten and sugar-free Red Velvet Cake (RM19) — two layers of fluffy cake made with gluten-free ground almond, buckwheat, quinoa and maize, finished off with rich 70 percent dark Belgian chocolate ganache. Another equally delicious option is the intensely chocolatey Flourless Dark Brownie (RM9).

For an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, find respite in this cosy cafe in Section 17 over tea and cakes. The traditional butter cakes here might look simple, but they make up for it in solid flavour. Go with Burppler Serena Ho’s recs for the bestselling Pandan Gula Melaka (RM10) and Banana Pecan Raisin (RM11) — the latter is especially loved for its well-balanced flavours and loose, airy texture.

If you haven't already heard, Mont Kiara’s got a fairly new and charming cake house that feeds the neighbourhood with fresh bakes — both made in-house and stocked by local home bakers. The selection stretch from classic, like a Banana Cake (RM9) to trendier types, like the Burnt Cheesecake (from RM16). Don't let the variety faze you and go straight for the chilled Marble Burnt Cheesecake (RM16) sporting stunning cheesy-chocolate swirls and served with light cream. Otherwise, the Apple Crumble Butter Cake (RM13.50) is a warm and delicate cake to go with Tea (from RM10).

This cheery cafe's rep for Japanese flavours go beyond just savouries — the delicate Hojicha (RM10) and Black Forest (RM10) swiss rolls are not to be missed either! The former sports rich cream filling with nutty flavours, while the latter is a lip-smacking pairing of Belgian chocolate chantilly with sweet and sour pitted cherries. P.s These indulgent rolls are also available at Sunbather’s sister cafe, Kakigori, which offers the Uji Matcha Swiss Roll (RM10). Not overly sweet, it sees a hint of bitterness from the green tea.

There’s nothing we love more than a good ol’ chiffon cake, and House + Co’s superb version hits all the right spots. You’re here for the Pandan Chiffon Cake (RM18) and it sells out very quickly on weekends, so we suggest coming in the mornings to snag a breakfast slice. It’s a little pricey, but the soft and airy pandan chiffon cake layered with light-as-air cream is worth the splurge.

Fresh fruits and sponge cakes are a match made in heaven at this shop in Atria Shopping Gallery. We love the use of local fruits, like in the popular Cempedak Cake (RM12.90). The sponge cake melds beautifully with sweet jackfruit cream while the toasted coconut gives each bite a nice crunch. Durian lovers, there’s also a Musang King Durian Burnt Cheese Cake (RM14.90), and a sinful Musang King Durian Mud Pie (RM12.90) right up your alley.
