A Knack For Snacking?
A deeply comforting snack for the soul with oozing dark choc and ripe bananas encased within a soft body. Definitely a challenge to say no to another of it.
This Chinese flatbread has 3 kinds of preserved veg representative of 3 cities in China in it: Xi’an mixed veg, Chong Qing preserved mustard green and Jiang Su preserved snow veg. Every bite of that crunchy flatbread sends both savoury and salty punches that will leave you craving for more. Initially the flavour could be pretty strong and a bit unfamiliar to get used to, but it really grew on us and we finished ours in no time😂 I’d choose this over my all time fav of red bean any time!
Picking up this extremely crispy old school snack is one of my family’s routine whenever we visit Fengshan hawker center. It’s freshly made hence you can still feel the heat while munching on it. What and how it is made is something similar to that of a pancake, just that this is very thin and crispy. While being on the hot stove, a layer of peanut and sugar is spread on it, lending it an additional crunch of sweetness and aroma.
Being a die-for for us, of course we usually don’t deprive ourselves of another treat on our way home😜

Came across this new stall at the ground level of CCK MRT station and decided to give it a try. Truthfully, I really have no idea what this is called (flatbread?) but I think the Chinese calls it 煎饼! To win the creative point, this new chain has decided to call it 锅盔😂 Other than the classic red bean filling, there are other options but they are mainly variations of different pickled vegetables. There’s even an order called 全家福 where they mix all the pickled veg together.
Upon ordering, the Chef would place the pre-prepared dough into the tandoor for baking. We were lucky to be saved all the waiting when the Aunty in front of us decided to give up her red bean 煎饼 for the 全家福👍🏻 The crunch was totally addictive and the red bean filling was not very sweet. Light as it was, it’s definitely a good snack for tea break.
