What an ugly muffin ($1.20/pc or $12 for 12pcs;), but the smell and taste is buttery and fragrant.
Plus who could fault a seller who distributes complimentary ugly samples to eat while you queue in line?
The man who sells it is also interesting. He list 12 types of muffins on his menu, and when I tried to order a box of 12 and select some of the flavors, his response was: â Letâs not make things complicated...â
So apparently, only noobs look at the menu. Only the pros ask him whatâs on the menu today...
And p.s: everyone has to pay and help themselves to their own change. So hope youâre good at maths!

Decadent dessert that is sinfully indulgent & satisfying. Must order if you are a die hard chocolate lover!
Not served in the usual ramekin but instead in an eye catching shiny silver pot; melted dark chocolate is poured into the soufflÊ, letting the light sponge absorb all that chocolatey goodness, followed by a dollop of crème fraÎche and topped with a scoop of rich and dense Gianduja Chocolate Gelato, then drizzled with more melted dark chocolate to finish!
Love how the hot melted dark chocolate flows deeper into the sponge when you dig into the moist pillowy centre, fusing together with the delicate crème fraÎche which balances the dessert by softening the richness from the Gianduja Chocolate Gelato.
We ordered their touted signature Chilli crab ($38; approx 300-400g?).
Depending on which group you fall into about how the Chilli crab should be prepared, as the poll pictured shows weâre divided. Lesson here: If you fall into the group that enjoys your Chilli crab steamed and tossed in the sauce (like I do), this is going to be sooooooo disappointing. The fried crab and tossed later in sauce makes the meat soggy and makes me wonder just how fresh is the crab?
We enjoyed the salted egg yolk chicken ($14), hot plate tofu ($8) and sambal Kailan ($9).
Thereâs no aircon nor washrooms in the restaurant, so a little letdown on a hot summer night eating fried crabs.
Unique Orhnee Tarts ($1.20) thatâs comes with ginkgo nuts, very crumbly tart shells and wallet friendly than buying straight from teochew restaurants. The other popular Cheese Tarts ($1.20) also gets quickly sold out by 12noon. So call on the dayâs morning to reserve if youâre in dire craving of it.
The chocolate chip muffins ($1.20) were a let down: like a wolf in sheepâs clothing as shown in the picture.
