cafe
Always a crowd pleaser plus a best seller with generous chunks of meat that just goes so well with the pasta! Pasta-approved for sure! (even on my third time having this!)
Served with their unique blend of chilli oil & vinegar, they’re so plump and juicy! most recommended (plus easy on the eyes!) Lenu’s :)
This chain’s congee is hardly my idea of congee as it is rather watery plus not much of salted egg (specks), never mind about the measly portion (about the size of cai fan porridge sized). ($6.5++)
Their wonton soup (not pictured here) is also hardly value for money, very different from the Hong Kong outlet or when the chain first opened in SG. But it can be said their prawns are rather fresh which is a plus point! ($7++). Of course it can’t be denied that this chain has its good points however most that I’ve eaten here just doesn’t wow me what with the price point unlike other chains with similar price points. ( Have tried the BBQ pork buns and spicy pork noodles which are not bad! ) Best item I’ve had here would be the juicy Siew Mais!
Pie pastry was fragrant which is a plus, however the filling was just weird to me. The specks of turkey bacon didn’t have much of a taste and with the leeks (?) in it plus cranberry, it was weirdly cloying in my opinion
Totally worth the effort going over from our offices @ Newton! A rather high SES setting yet it’s cosy and comfortable too! Love the combination of the classy interiors, quiet mall (even for a weekday lunch!) and also great looking & great tasting food! (It so doesn’t hurt that it’s really healthy! - as compared to other cafes boasting of being healthy and yet not.) Will definitely be back again! Had the Cowboy and the Tomato.
Portion was a tad small with most of the plate occupied by the topping. Ebiko topping was a real tiny teaspoon of it buried under all the topping. Pasta was a bit overcooked with no al dente texture. However food arrived really quickly.
Sauce described as ‘sweet shrimp xo sauce’ but felt it was more of a really spicy yet a little sweet sauce of dried shrimps but overall quirky yet nice tasting sauce. small shrimps were abundant.
Service was a bit hit-and-miss even though it was before the dinner rush hour on a Sunday.
Overall : 3/5
