Sri Lanka bowl - the Jaffna by Damian D'Silva was filled with colours, aromas and flavours. It had spinach dahl, daikon curry and snake gourd curry atop a base of basmatic brown rice, and topped with beetroot pachadi, mint chutney and roasted cashew bits. The blend of aromatic spices, tender spiced masala chicken and creamy, spicy curry were delicious and tentalising to the tastebuds that I devoured the bowl clean.

Switching up for a vegan option after all the festive feasting. A light and hearty wrap packed with mushrooms, avocados, cucumbers and lettuce assembled in a tortilla wrap. Option to add fries ($8) with a choice of shoestring fries or chunky belgium fries.

A heavier salad version made up of chilled buckwheat soba noodles as the base, which was savoury and zesty. The noodles were mixed with mushrooms, edamame, pickled cucumbers and cabbage; and dressed in a lime & sesame sauce. A tad salty but the roasted cod fish was the highlight as they were tender, flaky and had a nice texture. Generous large pieces and worth every buck.

A light and healthy (relatively) plate of goodness with two of my favourites - salmon and rosti. The salmon was lightly seasoned and maintained its moisture and came with a pistachio crust; while the potato rosti was thin and crispy. The one thing I liked was the pomegranate molasses that complemented very well with the citrus mint mayo, giving every bite a refreshing taste.

A quick lunch fix that was both flavoursome and nutritious. A choice between salad or Japanese rice, the salmon fillet was dressed in Teriyaki sauce and served with sweet corn, cherry tomatoes, nori flakes, tobiko and an onsen egg (for the rice option). Tasty and light and worth every buck...and even more so with Burpple Beyond one for one.

Ditching the salads and fueling up with a wholesome bowl of butter chicken, charred broc, sweet potato, edamane peas and soba. Nutritious, satisfying and tasty!

A healthier option for those counting their calories, the cafe has some unconventional toppings which include couscous, beef stew, roasted pork belly and feta cheese. I had my bowl loaded with soba noodles, beef stew, roasted broccoli, roasted pumpkin, roasted herb potatoes, cherry tomatoes and furikake. Full of colours, it was a wholesome and hearty lunch packed with much nutrition and flavour. The meat was tender and infused with wonderful flavour that complemented very well with the soba; and each topping was tasty on its own. Added $2.50 for a comforting bowl of mushroom soup. 100% satisfying! 🤗

Quite a healthy and value-for-money lunch option with servings of the gorgeous protein, along with a mix of ikura, nori, fried wanton skins cucumber cubes and edamame. Sprawled over a bed of rice, the marinated salmon cubes were fresh and generous, and the bits of fried wanton skin added a crunch factor.

For sharing, we ordered a side of nuggets ($6.90) that were served hot and crispy with a nice shade of golden brown. Refinery's version of their curry cuts quite close to Macs though it's less thick with a stronger taste of the spices within.

Healthy and nutritious lunch fix from Mr Bean. My rice bowl selection was filled with a variety of toppings such as edamane beans, minced chicken and soft-boiled egg. And instead of rice white or brown rice, the three-colour wholgrain mixed rice consisted of white rice, brown rice and red rice. Absolutely filling and satisfying!

This healthier version was lighter, still tasty but less flavourful than the original. It lacked the aromatics of the original thai basil minced chicken rice; and the saucy, salty and spicy kick packed in every scoop was missing.

Tasty, nutritious and satisfying earthy bowl of soba salad. As far as flavours and textures go, it was crunchy, sweet and savoury. I skipped the tangy creamy thai sauce that came with it as once tossed together, the saltiness from the smoked salmon and ebiko was sufficient.

This plate was healthy and pleasing on the eye. The slab of salmon was nicely grilled to a balance of crispy-moist. Though not big in flavour, it was accompanied with a sweet and savoury miso sauce; and a light buttered mash.
