Munchies
We were wondering what we could do for a fine Sunday afternoon, and really glad that we decided on Champion Bolo.
Despite the queue ( was the 2nd weekend of opening ) and slightly pricier fare, the excellent food and tranquil cafe-like seating area did make up for it.
Enjoyed the larger-than-usual buns, with a thick crispy fragrant crust and tender soft buns.
Would recommend, especially to those who would enjoy non-cafe food in a cafe environment 😄
TGIF dinner! Open 24hrs, look out for the neon lights along the streets to locate this hole in the wall.
Top 3 favs were the century egg porridge (generous amt of ingredients, super flavourful), crispy carrot cake (crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, amazing), and the longan sea coconut desert (not too sweet). Brilliant conclusion to another week.
Little packets of juicy meat and little bits of chopped up chives, the perfect snack for any peckish eater. 😋
It was really satisfying, freshly fried on the spot, thin crispy skin, moist flavourful meat fillings. And to make the perfect dipping sauce, self-served shredded ginger and black vinegar.
Would not hesitate to recommend this dish and stall to any student (local or international) craving a snack anytime of the day. 👍🏼

Stumbled upon this fine 2 story cafe while in the Bugis area on a Sunday afternoon. Hailing from Shanghai, Mellower Coffee is a chain of specialty coffee chains that has recently expanded out of China. Perhaps it is only the cafe chains that have the resources for a large 2-level space in such an accessible and convenient location. With this, my trusty notebook, and my gem of a companion, we enjoyed a beautiful and productive afternoon working while sipping our coffee. Also absolutely wonderful for people looking to while away an afternoon relaxing over cakes and coffee :)
I'll admit it. I enjoy Cedele's cakes, especially their carrot cake, yums. But since there was an on-going tea time promo, we took the chance to try the slightly pricier Chocolate Matcha Cake (hahah).
The cake did not disappoint. Strong moist matcha cake that complements well with the dark chocolate layers, not too sweet, nicely balanced overall. Iced mocha was thick, and had the taste of both chocolate and coffee. Together with the comfy seats and relaxing ambience, it's a good teatime escapade.
Post work, craving for dim sum, considered the few restaurants in the area, and finally settled for Victor's Kitchen.
Every item ordered was fresh, skillfully made, tasted and looked absolutely on point. Har kow was fresh, prawns were 'Q'. XLBs were so juicy, the amt of soup inside almost filled up my entire spoon. The siew mai has both prawns and meat, complementing each other well. Carrot cake was also unique - instead of the usual fried paste-like material, the radish was shredded and served steamed. The liu sha bao was definitely good too - liquid gold.
All in all, for sure there's more to this place than just its liu sha baos!
