Eggs, bacon, Spanish chorizo, salad, sourdough rye, sauteed mushrooms and avocado ($17). Standard components, average taste and nothing really outstanding. Good for people who like the safe option.
Do not be fooled by it's unassuming appearance, this dish is definitely something worth trying for brunch apart from the typical English breakfast. The eggs in the bread were runny, and the soft bread was enveloped with cheese melted and slightly browned. The star of the dish was definitely the bacon jam which is something you didn't know you needed in your life till you've tried it. The sweetness of the jam complemented the savoury toast and it was served on a scallop shaped crisp bread crust. An amazing breakfast/ brunch/ lunch for $13!
The assortment of mushrooms were full of flavour and simply delicious. ($16) Paired together with soft slices of bread and arugula leaves, the sandwich left us wanting more!
Packed with pulled pork, ham and cheese, the sandwich was served piping hot with a crisp bun ($16). The pulled pork had a good smoky flavour and the pickle had the right amount of acidity to cut through the heaviness of the meat. Def try with Burpple one for one!
Comprising of a chorizo sausage, scrambled eggs, mushroom, bacon, toast and avocado, this is definitely a popular dish as many people were happily devouring it when we came. Overall quite a standard dish for a cafe.
Having had grub's amazing HCG burger before, my eyes lit up when I saw they had a chicken and waffles version of this ($15)! I love my waffles. The serving was generous with two patties of HCG chicken and two triangular slices of waffle. It came with a salad and I chose sambal mayo to go along with it. The chicken was flavourful but quite dry, and over fried. The waffles were not bad and the sweetness of the maple syrup, savouriness and crispness of the chicken was a delightful combination.
[Edit]
I went back recently and the chicken was still very much over fried and a very dark brown. Seems like it is not a one off thing. Will not recommend. The standard has dropped alot since it opened. Even the Har Cheong Gai burger was terrible. Among the five patties from the waffles and burger we received, all were a hair away from being blackened and burnt. Extemely disappointed.
We came here because we have been hearing so many good things about it and seeing it all over instagram... also Burpple's one for one meant we could try two different sandwiches! The fried chicken sandwich ($16) was impossibly moist and juicy, the jalapeno cabbage slaw and sriracha mayo packed a punch and added some heat to the dish. The bread was soft and fluffy too and it was so good we could finish both halves in a single sitting!
Lovely presentation with the fried enoki at the top, which adds a nice crunch to the dish but otherwise didn't quite belong. Beef balls and pasta ($16) was average and not memorable, definitely not worth its price.
My eyes lit up when we were served this Eggs Benedict ($14) because the plating was simply breathtaking, from the brushstroke of balsamic dressing to the artfully placed radishes and garden salad, it was truly a feast for the eyes!
The eggs were poached perfectly and muffins were soft, making it a pretty good eggs ben! Of course many simply come here for the Harry Potter experience, which I must say they have captured quite well from the ambience to the menu offerings and don't leave without getting Mr Lich's Flaming Brew ($15, just for the gram).
Fresh Beets is one of the food stores found in habitat which serves up DIY salad bowls in two sizes - the smaller one ($10.90) gets you a grain, a cold dish, a hot dish and a protein while the bigger bowl ($12.90) gets you one extra hot and cold dish each! Similar concept to makisan but way better in quality and portion size! Step aside, makisan, cause we are bringing in some fresh beets.
Even though it's a DIY salad bar, they have clearly put in alot of effort into ensuring that each dish is well plated and garnished and the presentation is to a fine dining standard, which left me very impressed. The grains you can choose from quinoa, couscous etc, while the hot and cold dishes are an assortment of vegetables ranging from broccoli to pumpkin, chickpeas to potatoes. Proteins can be selected from chicken, salmon and beef (extra charges apply for both).
We chose a curried couscous, with an Asian honey soy chicken, chickpeas, aubergines, cauliflower and pumpkin. It also came with a cream of cauliflower soup which I suppose was the soup of the day. Each of the dishes we had were very tasty (coming from someone who doesn't really eat salads) and the servings were pretty generous! It was definitely a hearty salad and you won't go hungry afterwards.
Would definitely recommend this to try!
We were super excited to try this as virtually every table in habitat had at least one serving of this fish and chips and it looked so mouthwateringly good. Ordering was hassle-free on the honestbee app (not at the counter cause we are a smartnation 😎) and a notification will pop up when it's ready for collection! You could choose from a variety of fish including Dory, Barramundi ($13.50), Haddock (15.50) and Snapper ($16.50) and they all come with fries!
I loved how it was served in a pizza box, piping hot with seasoned tartar sauce and malt vinegar. They were very generous with the fries and you even get those golden nugget bits of batter thrown into your box. The fish was golden brown and fried to perfection, not too oily while still being flaky and moist on the inside. The lemon wedge and vinegar gave extra notes of acidity and tantalized our tastebuds.
If you ever go to habitat, this is a definite MUST TRY!!
A very substantial brunch with fluffy scrambled eggs, some bacon slices, mushrooms and two pieces of toast and a sausage. Overall, it was pretty average but a great deal with the entertainer app's 1-for-1 offering!
