Woke up a little bit too early in the morning with a hunger pang and so off to Yan Kee I headed as it is 24/7. It was my first time trying mee sua "bak chor mee" style, and it was indeed very good! The noodles didn't clump, and was cooked perfectly. The sauce was slightly vinegary which gave it a nice kick. Overall a very pleasant and reasonably priced meal :)

Came with free flow fried lard and garlic. The egg noodles were extremely springy, and the ingredients were very well assembled! The soup is noteworthy too as it is not just a clear ikan bilis stock but I could feel a thicker mouthfeel going on, almost like they boiled bones in it. Overall, a very pleasant dish and worth it too considering the nicely airconditioned ambience!

Got the medium sized chicken rice ( $5.00 ) with liver. ( $1.00 )

Definitely one of the higher quality hawker stall chicken rice out there :) Notably, the soup was opaque rather than clear, reflecting the boiling of chicken bones for long hours. I could definitely taste the tonkotsu like thickness of the soup! Also, the chicken had vegtable acar with it, a nice and simple differentiation from other stalls. The chicken breast was surprisingly smooth while the liver was extremely creamy without any 'meaty' smell. While $6 might be pricey for hawker center chicken rice, I'd say it's worth your money considering the quality!

$2.80 for a small bowl of Laksa (Blood Cockles aka Xi Hum included)

I could taste the fresh laksa paste and coconut milk very disctinctly! The broth was perfect; rich but not too rich in a way that I could finish it without feeling it was 'jelak'! Noodles were fresh too, I opted for thick beehoon and it was slightly thinner than normal thick beehoon you get from other laksa stalls! It was topped with cockles, very fresh dried tofu and fishcakes, beansprouts and half a hard boiled egg. Laksa leaves and chili paste were self-service. Quality wise, definitely comparable with Katong Laksa and the cheap prices ($2.80 for small, $3.30 for large) definitely make this a place I'd go to again!
