Ikea always have such long queue especially on weekend!

We were there for a late lunch meal and the queue was still so long!

Got the meatball (8 pieces), garlic bread with mushroom soup, and fried chicken wing (6 pcs)!

I love the meatball sauce, but dont really take beef, so we did not order the normal meatball meal which had 12 meatballs. Also, I just realised that there is an option to order less than 6 pieces of chicken wing (though not shown on the menu)! We always find it too much to finish 6 pieces between the both of us, and I am not a super big fan of ikea's chicken wings. Find it not marinated enough? OCK chicken wing is so much better!

Loved the garlic bread here though! Goes well with the mushroom soup!

we got the smaller portion which has 8 meatballs. If you are wondering why my plate of meatball has an unusual amount of gravy sauce, yes, it is because we requested for more sauce! Super love the sauce here! Goes well with both the meatballs and mashed potatoes!

As for the chicken wings, I think it is my 3rd or 4th time eating it. Not sure why people rave it as a nice chicken wing. Every single time I eat it, I still conclude that I do not like their chicken wings. It isnt wow. It isnt hot (it isnt warm, it was served at ROOM temperature). It wasnt marinated. I think even old chang kee chicken wings is better (my same comment every time i eat ikea's chicken wings).

Not sure why, but no salmon was available at IKEA during our visit? So we ended up getting a garlic toast and mushroom soup to complete the meal!

was craving for Asian Food REALLY BADLY when overseas! Once back in Singapore, it was time for MEE POK at @meepok.time !

This is not your usual mee pok! The Signature Mee Pok Bowl ($6.50) comes with a superior soup that has dumpling, scallop, prawn paste meat, clams, minced pork, and pork ball! Loads of ingredients! For the noodles, you can choose chilli / tomato / black sauce for the base! The mee pok was super qq, the kind that I love! Comes garnished with pork lard and fish stripes too!

Besides mee pok, they also see teochew special porridge ($6.80). The ingredients in this pot of porridge was slightly similar to the mee pok! Fresh ingredients. Porridge was very comforting to eat! It is served in a claypot bowl as well to keep it hot!

For snacks, you can try the Crispy Fish Stripes ($3.50) too! Crunchy and addictive! It tasted like fish crackers, but a thinner version! Recommend to try this!

On the other hand, i quite enjoyed the grilled catfish ($6.50) which came with crusty exterior and the creamy dill sauce was good but not enough for the whole portion of fish. The fries that we got for this dish was just very fried and overly salty though.

Have been wanting to try out the food at Wild Olives (Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre) for more than 2 years! Finally tried it recently, but having set my expectations too high, I think i will only eat it once and that's it, especially when we had to wait in line for 1 hour!

Wanted to try the mushroom soup and mashed potato but it was already sold out by the time we ordered on a sat evening. Tried the most popular grilled chicken chop with mushroom rice and grilled herb potatoes ($5.90), but uh it tasted pretty normal to me, not mindblowing. The chicken chop was tender, but it did not have much marination. The mushroom rice which I was very keen on trying turned out to taste something like dry glutinuous rice (luo mi fan) to me, with a very heavy shallot oil taste. The grilled herb potatoes was more like the korean ja jiang mian kind/ dark soya sauce, and I found it toooo salty! There was no herby taste at all? haha

On the other hand, i quite enjoyed the grilled catfish ($6.50) which came with crusty exterior and the creamy dill sauce was good but not enough for the whole portion of fish. The fries that we got for this dish was just very fried and overly salty though.

one word that summarise this visit = salty. haha it left us soo thirsty that we had to buy a bottle of water from the drinks stall haha. Plus, I always dont get stores which make customers stand in line to wait. Why not take the orders and have a queue calling system to call customers when food is ready? To me, it is just making the stall seem very popular so that more ppl will be curious and join in the queue. As a customer, it is not a nice experience to stand in line to wait for 1 hour?

But ok la the food was affordable. If no queue can eat.

Have been eyeing puffs & peaks bakery donuts for the longest time! But ended up trying the cookies ($3.70 each) this time round

🍪classic brookies: the very signature cookie with the half dark cocoa and half regular chip cookie with Valrhona dark chocolate. Brookies are essentially a cross between brownie and cookies! I love how it is crispy crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside (especially when I heat it up before eating)

🍪earl grey dulcey: earl grey cookie studded with caramel varlhona chips. The earl grey tea taste was strong and the flavour was very pleasant (when I don’t normally like drinking earl grey tea by itself)

Will be back again to try the donuts!

Delighted to have the chance to try out the set meal for 2 at 食堂 by mahota! We opted for the set meal B ($32.8) which comes with cordyceps flower with chicken drumstick soup, sweet and sour sliced fish, Nai Bai vegetables, brown/white rice as well as pandan soy beancurd jelly! What a complete meal and it was such a healthy meal! Sambal chilli was given as well which really went with the chicken drumstick. I liked the sweet and sour sauce, but the sliced fish was slightly too fried 😆 we loved the pandan soy beancurd jelly as well, smooth texture with light pandan fragrance!

Cha Inn is located at tampines food co, which is near tampines eco green, good for after hike thirst quench :) Tampines Food Co place is catered more for delivery collection for grabfood/foodpanda/deliveroo. However they do serve walk in customers too. Just need to use the qr code to scan to access their website to order.

Drinks we tried:
💕 Ovaltine cool crunch ($6.8): this was like Milo dinosaur but in ovaltine flavour with a chocolate milk base! I like how the caramelised cookie bits were packed separately to retain the crunch!

💕 Purple taro dino ($6.8): orh nee paste with fresh milk and mini qq taro pearls!

Both drinks were enjoyable! 🤗

Fast forward a few years, while thinking where to bring my family to eat after a fast walk around bedok reservoir, this was naturally the place which came up on my list since it was less than 5 mins car ride away and it is slightly out of the way by public transport and we wouldn't otherwise visit this place. There were moderate lines on a late sat morning. It seemed that most things were sold out / not ready yet? There was no otah ($1) or begedil etc available. We could only get this standard chicken wing set ($3). On first glance, the portion seemed to be too little? But it turned out to be a just nice portion. This time round, I loved everything about this nasi lemak. From the fragrant fluffy white rice to the sweet but at the same time spicy sambal chilli, to the ikan billis with fried bits and finally the best item of the dish - the marinated fried chicken wing with seasoning powder (which reminds me abit of maggi mee snack's seasoning)! Family also had good positive reviews for this place! Thumbs up! 👍🏻 #burpple #burpplesg #lawabintang #nasilemak #nasilemaksg #chickenwing #tampines #bedokreservoir #food #foodiesg #sgfoodie #whati8today #8dayseat #vscofoodie #iweeklyfood #foodporn #foodstagram #vscofood #foodphotography #sgmakan #sgmakandiary #sgfoodstagram #singaporeeats #exploresingaporeeats #exploresg #whatsgoodhere #sgfoodie

For this price, you get 6 clams and 3 grilled prawns (I thought they could have given more clams haha). They didn't have fusili pasta. The only choice was spaghetti (one of my much hated pasta choice lol). The spaghetti was kinda overcooked too. It was soft and slightly sticky like Chinese noodles. The laksa sauce was alright for me though. It wasn't overly jelat. Top up $1.9++ for free flow drinks or $3.9++ to add on a soup as well.

Tried this carrot cake stall (between the prawn mee and kolo mee) for the first time. I liked that the chilli was spicy! Plus the sourish chilli dip to go with. Usually I like black carrot cake, but this white carrot cake was good! #burpple #burpplesg #tampinesroundmarket #carrotcake #whitecarrotcake #food #foodiesg #sgfoodie #whati8today #8dayseat #vscofoodie #iweeklyfood #foodporn #foodstagram #vscofood #foodphotography #sgmakan #sgmakandiary #sgfoodstagram #singaporeeats #exploresingaporeeats #exploresg #whatsgoodhere #sgfoodie
