Love their fresh sashimi. Portion was pretty filling, and they didn't skimp on the sashimi/ingredients. Felt that the rice was drenched in soy sauce - would be better to leave the rice plain/lightly tossed with mirin vinegar, and leave customers to dip the fish in soy sauce on the side as they wish. Apart from that, great value and would order this again.

One of my favourite ramen places by far. Really affordable, flavourful ramen in the heart of Orchard Road. A hidden gem, in my humble opinion. I always get the Japan (regular) size because I'm greedy, and it's super filling! They are really generous with their noodles and beansprouts too.

Simple and delicious. A good option for a no-frills meal at Genki if you don't know what to order or are hungry.

This is the first dish I've ever had at Genki that I thought was really bad. Seemingly simple, but something was amiss. There was a burnt smell from the second the train delivered this to our table. Perhaps the soup was too hot for the plastic bowl? The soup tasted funky so we didn't finish it. I like that they put the fried tempura bits in a spoon so it won't get soggy, but the burnt taste was a huge nono.

This dish was ooookay. Nothing special. The batter was crispy even though it wasn't served warm. The yuzu mayo was like Korean yuzu jam mixed with mayonnaise. Flavour was good but hard to dip because of the thick consistency.

Don't think I've ever seen soba on their menu before. Portion was enough to satisfy, although too small for a full meal. Loved that it came with seaweed strips and a separate bowl of dipping sauce. Would order this again!

The yellowtail cheek grilled with salt is one of our favourite items to order. The fish is always very tender. If you prefer it less salty, there is an option to select "no salt" when ordering from the iPad. Sad that this piece was a little smaller than usual.

My favourite was the Unagi Don, which came with large slices of unagi atop nicely vinegared sushi rice. Their prices are justified by their generous use of quality ingredients. I was very pleased that the sashimi was fresh and the unagi came in large, juicy chunks.

I also liked their soya sauce (sounds weird but hear me out!). They use a 100 year old brand from Kyushu, Japan that is less salty than usual and has a nice sweetness to it. Means you can dip away without any guilt!

Got this at a 20% discount in the evening. Their salmon is always fresh but somehow apart from the salmon sashimi, their aburi/mentaiko salmon sushi misses the mark. Don't find it particularly tasty. Perhaps their rice could do with more vinegar.
