Amazing Thai In SG

A food journal documenting any thai dishes that I had in Singapore

Located in the Newest building with simple cafe, fatburger, cupplets, Kim eng chicken rice and hakata Japanese restaurant . Lotus garden is a 30 over year old eatery serving Chinese thai cuisine at Teban gardens. It was our first time and the food was definitely above average. We ordered: fuyong omelette, sweet and sour pork and Thai pineapple rice. The wok hei was on point for everything. The pineapple rice have the right balance of fruit with the savoury flavours.

Joining Nakhon kitchen and Soi 19 to form a small cluster of thai dining outlets at holland village is Yaowarat Thai Kway Chap. The signature bowl costs only $5 and comes with a peppery clear broth, thai chinese sausages, lean pork, roasted pork and pork stomach.

We dine in for the first time at Soi thai (jurong west). It was a relief that we were there early, as the formation of a long queue could be seen at around 7pm.

Ordered the thai style kangkong, red seafood tom yum soup, pandan chicken and pineapple rice. Our favourites got to be the kangkong and tom yum soup. The smokiness from the wok hei in the stir fried kang kong was impeccable. The tom yum soup was thick due to the addition of the coconut milk and rich in taste which comprises of the lemongrass and spiciness from the chilli.

I love the unconventional shape and unique texture of the noodles used for this dish. It looks seemingly thin and yet the texture was very chewy. The pork broth is rich and thick with meatballs, pork slices and lard. You can order the regular ($6.90) or the small ($3.90)

Love the vintage vehicles and interior decor. But nothing worth commenting about the food. Quite average.

Never underestimate the spiciness of clear thai tomyum soup. Never underestimate how delicious the colourless sauce of thai wanton mee can be. No chillli paste for chilli, only chilli flakes.

The food was so-so. But I am glad for the variety and entertainment available for my child. It will be gd place to visit when he grows older too.
