Comfort Food
Found this tze char stall along upper thomson road. The menu is extensive with grilled seafood, fish head steamboat and noodles on top of all the usual tze char dishes like sweet sour pork, sambal kang kong etc. The portion of stingray was generous and sambal was decent enough. I liked that the sambal was not as oily compared to other places even though the fragrance and spiciness took a hit. Only wish they had cincalok to accompany the dish. Located just one bustop away from the venus drive mcritchie exit, its a good place to refuel after hiking! They also serve one person meals for small groups.
You can't miss this stall due to the perpetual long queues. Go for the white carrot cake - it's fragrant with just the right balance of egg to carrot cake, cooked slowly over the fire for those crispy edges. Carrot cake isn't the most healthy breakfast around so its good that this stall goes easy on the oil. The kueh is made in stall and you can watch the owners straining huge cubes of carrot cake through a mesh while queueing. The soft and flavorful carrot cake makes this well worth the wait!
For a fuss free tze char experience.
The go-to tze char place for my family with a decent menu covering all the classics (sweet and sour pork, pork rib king, sambal kang kong) at affordable prices and friendly servers. A way more pleasant dining experience than at a famous tze char stall 1 mrt station away.
Do try the yam ring! Its fried upon order with a crispy melt in the mouth crust and a hearty savory yam filling which is fluffy not cakey and tastes handmade.
We spent 45 for 4.
The ultimate comfort food. Requested for the patty to be done medium rare and it was juicy and still pink in the middle. Loved the fried onions and herby mayonnaise that added fragrance to the burger. Noticed that every table had a huge plate of truffle fries so topped up 5 dollars to upgrade and it was so worth it! Would recommend getting a dish that comes with fries and opting for the upgrade as the fries do get jelat after a while. The cone of fries with the burger are sufficient for 2 to share. Biggest downside was my burger had been left sitting out while my partners pasta was cooked so it was served warm and the bottom bun was soaked through. PS cafe is pricey so best reserved for occasions.
