Long grain basmati rice is fragrant, infused w lots of spices tht were visible such as cinammon and star anise. Char siew is sweet, fragrant and tender albeit the ratio of soft bones to meat is a good 1:1. I like that a variety of sides- molten egg, curried chickpeas and cauliflower were given so you wont feel like its too boring eating just rice and meat the whole time. All in all a very satisfying meal for its pricetag. š
Honestly had a v hard time choosing which ingredients to get cus they had all of my favs š¤¤ Affordable and generous w their servings, it's a pity location-wise it's kinda out of the way...
Grew up eating my prawn mee here so this has became my benchmark for good hae mee. Ultra fresh prawns were sweet & springy, the flesh slides off its shell easily. Some days when the broth is saltier, youāll find yourself downing lots of water throughout the entire day. š¦
Salmon topped w mentaiko sauce & torched on the spot upon order before assembling all the ingredients in the bowl, thereās certainly no doubts on its freshness. The unique furikake seasoned butterfly pea rice deserves a special shoutout for leaving a deep impression. This place is good for times when you wna eat clean w/o compromising on taste. šš
Chanced upon this stall as we were seated just in front of it & noticed that the queue never once ceased. Thats when we knew its gonna be something great... The tau huay definitely beats them powerhouses Selegie & Rochor hands down with its smooth, velvety texture! On the other hand, the āhei-baiā drink did not impress just as muchš„š„£
Oozy sous vide egg nestled atop generous slices of medium done wagyu beef accompanied by a special yogurt sauce at the side. The redness of the meat did scare me off a lil initially, thank god there isnāt any gamey taste just soft, tender goodness. Despite some of the dissatisfactory reviews here, I actually enjoyed my budget beef bowl & would certainly be back for more. š„©š
Joined the queue with high hopes for this after seeing Eatbookās recommendation. While the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture & black fungus strips as well as braised mushrooms were added, this bowl certainly did not wow me as much as I thought it would. My all-time favourites are still L32 geylangās & poon nahās. Upon seeing other burpplersā reviews, it might be cus I got the non-spicy version and their chilli is supposedly the star of this dish. I might just be back to give the chilli version another try...
Go early around 5+pm Iād suggest or be prepared to be greeted with a queue when you arrive. Generous portions of meat, liver, tau gey, kang kong, cockles & tau pok, drenched in thick rich peanut gravy, thereāll be more than sufficient ingredients to go with each mouthful of noodle you. Devoured this plate of glorious mess under 10min. š (p.s. Iām surprised this stall has yet to have its own burpple page.)
Marinated & roasted to perfection, the fatty/ end parts of the char siew were the yummiest. Springy noodles were coated with pork oil, so fragrant it can be eaten on its own. The mini bowl of soup served alongside was so so sweet we had to get refills. One of the better places in SG to get your roast delight fix. š
Disappointed by the measly portion & thin, watery gravy served... The only saving grace for this bowl of letdown was the fresh, plump cockles. Overrated much, this will be my first & last time here. š
