CHINA FOOD 🇨🇳
For 2, but was v disappointed by the lack of taste???? Only had the taste of chilli and no salt or mala :-(
Tried the mala soup belong Seoi Gor! It was $2.88/100g regardless of it being vege, mushroom, seafood or meat! Soup was tasty but felt like there was lots of msg and it didn’t have the numb taste but instead, just a good tomyum which had a lot of milk!!! Food took a while to come too but worth a try!
Love me myself some mala :’)))) At NUS and at $6.50 for a bowl of goodness. Love the combi of lotus root and enoki and fish and more mushrooms heheheh. The maggie or wide potato noods are a definite yes too
China food and love how well seasoned the skewers are, esp the pork belly and lamb :’)))) Leek and veg and chicken were ok but highlight was definitely the skewers
Favourite/must order dish whenever I come to Formosa!!! Intense spices + crispy chicken!!!
Ok we were lazy so we used honestbee HAHAHA but cannot express how much we love formosa!! ordered the stir fried chitlins (intestines), beef tripe and chicken in chilli oil and chilli oil noodles. By far the best china place I’ve been to, with all the food giving the strong chilli and salty enough flavours I look for. Always feeling shiok and full after eating this ☺️☺️☺️
Price wise, its rather decent with some items cheaper than other stalls and some more pricey but taste is definitely a 100% win!!!!
Hopped on to the next station!! There were q a lot of shops to choose from but being Singaporeans, we went to the one w the most number of people HAHAHAH. It was rather bustling and we ordered a bottle of beer ($6.50) and quite a lot of skewers (15-16??). Total bill came about to $30 so it was quite cheap! The menu had quite a variety of skewers and also many main dishes.
Honestly, we were quite disappointed because 1) the cumin taste was lacking 2)seasoning not salty or spicy enough 3)food was cold when served
To me, only the prawn tasted decent ☹️
-Will I return?
Guess it’s a 不再来 for me.
Walked down the stretch of China food along Kallang and was so amazed by the no of stalls?! And the fact that there are so many hotpot, skewers (basically chinese food) around!!!!! Everything looked so good!
We went to Chuan Yang Ji to try the lamb because we did not manage to previously. Was super scared that there’ll be the over powering stinky lamb taste that i hate so I ordered the spicy one. (but also less spicy cause Chinese food’s 微辣 is always spicy enough for me)
We were shook cause the soup was actually v unlike chinese food (like not v spicy and oily!!) Felt like the broth was cooked for hours and the taste of the soup had a light but rich mutton taste. Not gelat or anything and topped with the chilli spices, it gives the spicy soup more taste. Price was rather cheap, $7 per bowl.
Ordered the black sugar sesame pancake ($4) but it was slightly disappointing cause it tasted like red bean instead.
Huge fan of Chinese food and this spicy fish just made me love it more!!! Went to Orchid Roast Fish (easily accessible from China Town MRT. We went for the buffet of weekdays (Monday to Thursday) at $18.80++/pax. Heard the price for dinner rose to $20.80++ now though. But anyway, it was buffet and we had free flow fish (cooked in varying styles), vege, mushroom, meat, pork and beef!!!!! It was really worth it considering the price we paid for the large variety of food! We had the fish in fragrant spices, followed by picked vegetable soup and then mala!!! glad it was in this order because the mala totally burnt us. Fish was soft, tender and meaty, with other ingredients being fresh. However a plate of beancurd skin we had was slightly moudly, which we alerted the staff and they immediately took it away for us.
Drinks are excluded from this buffet though, so we had to incur the drinks price! The crowd started streaming in at 6pm and despite saying dinner is only for 2h, they did not chase us out as the place was not full since they had 2 levels. Staff were friendly and helpful to our questions and orders.
