Japanese
This poke bowl really packed a punch with its various components. The spicy salmon brought lots of heat, the pineapple cubes gave great sweetness and acidity, and the kelp introduced a contrasting texture to the dish, when eaten with the sushi rice. There was only a small portion of avocado that was given, but in any case, it was overpowered by all the other components and you didn’t really get that creaminess from it, nor any zest from the lime that was supposed to have been added. Portion of salmon was alright, although it might be hard to tell because we ordered an extra portion, so it might not be accurate.
CAN ORDER👍
S$5.80 for Soya Pudding (left)
Custard like texture, being more creamy than bouncy. Kuromitsu goes well with pudding, but felt like should be more spread out.
S$6.20 for Maccha Tiramisu (right)
A misnomer to be calling it a Tiramisu, but delicious as a cream cake with maccha dusting.

Authentic Japanese restaurant which serves quality Japanese food. The atmosphere here was great and service was excellent as well. My favourite dish was the Salmon Aburi Mentai Maki (priced at $15.90 for 8 rolls). It is extremely value for money and tasted as good as it looks. I also ordered the Upsized Bara Chirashi (for only $14.80). The portion was really generous and the salmon and tuna were very fresh. There were plenty of rice at the bottom which I did not manage to finish. The waitress also recommended the seasonal fish Renkodai ($28.90) which was served half grilled and half sashimi-style. It did not make much of an impression, but was well done nevertheless. Overall, it was a great experience here and I would definitely come back for more!
According to Burpple Tastemaker Zhihui Lim, this cosy joint in Thomson Plaza serves one of the more affordable and value-for-money chirashi dons in Singapore. Priced at $12.80, the Bara Chirashi Don has a spot-on rice to sashimi ratio, which means you get satisfying bites of seafood with every mouthful. Burppler Hazel Low likes that the sashimi are thick and fresh, while Zhihui describes the sesame-flavoured rice to come topped with fresh portions of perfectly seasoned prawns, salmon, tuna, octopus and ikura. If you're in the mood to indulge without burning a hole in your pocket, the Premium Bara Chirashi Don ($24.80) sees a lot more (a mountain of it, in fact) of the fresh seafood — on pay day, perhaps? Sushiro's charms often garner a crowd, so be prepared to queue, even outside of peak mealtimes. Pro tip: Flash your Burpple app to enjoy Sushiro's set lunch specials for all rice bowls — add on $3 for soup and salad, or $5 for sashimi, soup and salad.

While a haven for vegetarians, Fortune Centre is also home to this nondescript yet wholly popular shop dishing out bowls of donburis to hungry hordes. Tucked away on the third floor, Japanese Curry Express is a popular spot for students and office workers in the area, and for good reason! The Pork Katsu Curry ($7) is one of their cheaper options and consistently hits the spot if you're in the mood for something deep-fried. What we really like however is the Salmon Mentai Don ($10), which sees generous slices of lightly torched salmon and mentaiko laid over fluffy Japanese rice. Portions run small, so upsize the bowl (additional $3) for a donburi that'll definitely hit the spot. If you're still pecking, get the moreish Salmon Kara Karaage ($6) to share and nibble on lightly battered salmon offcuts.
