Not the best party platters of sort i have ever eaten, it isn’t bad but not impressive as well. The fried chicken tenders are comparable to texas chicken’s, sausage is good tasting (just good), beef steak average, everything else is average too. Nothing that surprises me but if you have to get something to share, i would recommended getting the other mains to share, at least they tasted much different than what u can get at other places. They offer mainly western(American) inspired korean dishes, so you are interested to see what they offer, you can give it a try!

My first time trying poke! have been craving for it but never tried it due to its commonly expensive price. 15.80 dollars for 2 scoops of sashimi. I loved the onsen egg, adding a creamy dimension to every each of my bite. The seasoned sashimis are deeellliicciouuss, tasted fresh, and absolutely sublime with the rice and vege sides. A right balance of saltiness from the fish and freshness from the greens. This officially begins my search for better pokes of better values!! Great start!!

Not the most flavourful plate of briyani i have ever had. The rice lack fragrance from the spices but the chicken is still tender. The curry served is average. In overall, this is a slightly below average fix for briyani cravings. Price wise, at the higher side since its a restaurant, approximately 12 dollars for a plate.

If you have a craving for nonya dishes, this is a comfortable fix. Its better than average in my opinion, and the lunch sets are worth it to give it a try. So go try it soon!

Me and my girlfriend ordered a plate of german pork knuckle to share among us. The meat is not very soft but has a good bite to it, not too tough. The crispy skin of the pork knuckle is crackling crispy at some areas, but for other areas it can be rather hard to bite into. I suspect its because the pork knuckles are cooked in batches, placed aside and only reheated before serving. The portion feeds 3, too much of the meat can turn you off easily, so i recommend having other dishes with it. I don’t believe this is a good representation of the famous german pork knuckle but if you have the craving for it, maybe this can help, just maybe.

Savoury and rich broth, awesome with white rice. But most importantly, the fish are so fresh, one of the freshest i have ever had! Even though its at the pricier side of fish head steamboat among others that i have tried, the freshness of the ingredients makes it all worthwhile if you have the budget to spend! On top of that, they have many condiments to go with your fish, sambal, red chilli, belachan etc. Highly recommended for special occasions too because since its opened at the HDB neighbourhood, they do not charge any gst for it!

The beef slices are tender, along with the truffle fragrant, well cooked pearl rice grains, umami foie gras, binding everything together with the creamy egg yolk, every bite is almost perfect. I wish the sauce will be more flavourful than just the saltiness of its soy base, but do not get me wrong, this is still one of the better dons i have ever had so far!

The pork belly is full of meaty flavour, soft but also has a bite to it. When you have it with rice and the runny yolk, the bite has so much richness of flavour to it. Two down sides: 1, the raw vegetables in the bowl tasted bitter, 2 , the colour of the braised pork belly lacks vibrancy which made it look less appetising than it is. Other than that, not a bad bowl of braised pork belly rice bowl at all! Try it yourself !

I got the steamed chicken and it is very tender! the chicken breast meat is not too tough at all and accompanied by the soy sauce and not forgetting the fragrant fried garlic, every bite of chicken packs a punch! Their soup are well cooked tonic soup and best of all its free(similar to the Katong Shopping Centre’s chicken rice). The only downside is that i wish the rice is not fragrant and salty enough for my liking, still decent though. Go try it!!

If you have the urge to have something deep fried, other than fast food fried chicken, you can consider a bowl of tempura and rice bowl from Tendon Kohaku @ Chinatown point. In my perspective, Japanese have a very good knowledge of a good bite. In a good bite, there must be a blend of distinctive tastes and textures however all of them must go well together. Tendon Kohaku does a great job with their rice bowls! Every bite of their tendon contains: crunch of the tempura batter, softness in the battered ingredient, well cooked sushi rice, saltiness of the soya miso sauce, spice from the chilli flakes, sour and sweetness from the pickled yuzu ginger. Altogether in a single bite will make you beg for more, and it wont get boring because every tempura is a different ingredient, prawn, chicken, bamboo shoot, baby corn, etc. So you can be sure every bite will be a surprise(not 100% sure what is under the batter when you go for the next tempura). Go on down and try it yourself!

If you only had the peppery bak kut teh throughout your entire life, i think you are missing out. Right beside Johor Bahru’s KSL Mall, you can find a herbal bak kut teh store. Unlike the peppery versions of bak kut teh, this is much more savoury without the overpowering punch of pepper spices. Instead, this bowl of soup has a deep deep herbal-ish and pork bone taste. Every mouthful packs with flavour and deep pork bone soup fragrant that you will beg for more. Furthermore, the ingredients that come the soup is customisable (you can pick which ingredients you would like to be included into the soup), and very very fresh, the pig innards and meat are very well cleaned (no gamey-ness). To me, this is a fair alternative to the peppery bak kut teh that i absolutely love and still do, its definitely worth the try!

One of the best bowls of noodle soup i have had. The broth is thick, herbal-ish and very aromatic. If you have the chance, go on down and try it yourself. The pig organs are cooked just right, not too tough and the lean meat tasted clean and smooth. I like how they chooses to use meesua(wheat noodles) for the soup, it is a type of salted noodle and compliments the aromatic broth well. Try it soon!
