Hawker-Eye
Christmas Day and decided to go to Hua Bee for breakfast, since it seemed so popular whenever I walked past. I was also taking the chance to ask the aunties where's the entrance to Bincho (they called the owner ę„ę¬é

걤 š). Because it was still early, I forego the chilli and had ketchup sauce for my #bakchormee Realized it's a mistake later. It turns out to be the blandest #bcm I've ever eaten. Because the soup was pretty much tasteless this early part of the day, I felt that I merely had carbs. Noodles was of good springy texture. Ingredients in the soup are more than your usual.
The aunties are not as pricky in the morning maybe cos there's no crowd. I like the kopi C gosong they made for me.
I'll probably try again next time, at a later timing, and, with chilli?
Tze Char in the city. It's been so long since I've travelled to Far East Plaza for a meal. Came here cos they have salted egg pork ribs. Verdict: IMO honestly over-hyped cos the salted egg and the meat tastes 'separately' (how else to describe an unharmonious dish?). However Har Cheong Kai is good, not too overwhelming. Sambal Kang Kong has no kick. Perhaps their trademark is go easy on the taste?!
To appease a visiting friend on a hunt for good chendol we went to Old Amoy Chendol
Definitely good ol' chendol served with integrity. For the same price you would pay at a food court for a mountain of shaved ice, you get full value of real chendol topped with red beans, gula melaka, coconut essence. Green chendol jelly is handmade so yes, it's worth it !
éæ2čē«ę±¤, or Ah Er Soup, one of the street food that made it to the 2017 Michelin Bibgourmand list. Ordered a č”ę¤ēŖč걤($4.50), and I'm happy that it didn't disappoint, though the presentation is less attractive than the Michelin recommended ęåä½č·³å¢ ($6.50) my preggy friend ordered. Soup contains no msg. Most customers would order the pumpkin rice ($0.80), which I curiously follow suit. Definitely taste better than white rice. Queue at 12pm is manageable.
