One of us decided to go for noodle instead of congee and it didn't disappoint! The noodle is springy & its portion is really generous and more than enough for a person. Sliced fish and Dace fish ball are also plenty in the bowl. 👌
.
Sides are soup and wanton 🥟 (super crispy with mayo dipping). If you request extra chilli, you will get sambal style and sliced chilli to pick from). sambal chilli is nice for noodle whereas sliced chilli is well matched with congee. Pay $1 extra for cold drink and well worth it for fighting heat wave! 🥵
Our second visit to Mui Kee Congee at Shaw centre. We gotta admit that we miss their congee when they first opened back then. The congee is still silky smooth although we can notice shrinkflation for each component. We will overlook that because we simply enjoy congee, youteow, century eggs to the max! 👌💯 The set comes with your hot drink choice (except soursop) and valid for weekday lunch (Mon-Fri) & weekday dinner (Mon-Thurs)
The medium size of this shrimp dumpling noodle set is really decent! You get 1 bowl of wanton soup with 4 shrimp wantons and another bowl for noodle (lard Is in the bowl 😉)
The egg noodle is springy and coated well with right amount of chilli source. Each dumpling has the whole shrimp and pork in it. We savour the texture of every components. 👍
We don’t like their veg (cai xin) that much as it is quite a big stem P.S. stir up chilli at the bottom. 🌶

📍 Guan Chee Hong Kong Roast
Food Opera @ Ion Orchard #B4-03/04
Well known for its specialized and authentic Hong Kong cuisine, we are happy that we found their outlet in Ion Orchard basement.🤩
The 2 mixed set is very generous in term of duck & Pork quantity. The set come with 2 small tubs of chilli sauce, rice, cucumber & pickle. Quality of meat is also very good (compared to other Michelin Bibgourmand place in Chinatown that gives a lot of bones) 🧐 The chili sauce is not too spicy and balance well with the flavor of duck meat & crispy skin roasted pork.
Absolutely happy with this 2 mixed set and it won’t be too much saying that we enjoy eating here the most in SG and it teleports us to the original roasted meat place in Hong Kong. 🇭🇰
👉 #vegetarian diners, do pick noodle instead of 4 treasure congee $7.80 as we tried both and noodle with plump mushroom is much more satisfying!! 😽
.
Happy ordering! & don’t forget to follow us for some tips on healthy dine out in SG!! 🤟💪
🌟 A few tips if you dine in @muikeesg 🌟
****
👉 Claypot dishes is served only dinner time. Pork liver claypot $15 (need to order plain congee $3 separately.) Great dish but quite cumbersome to do mix & match.
👉 Recommended to go for set menu at lunch time as you will miss bits & bobs like You Tiao, century egg & beancurd in dinner time unless you don’t mind paying more for those ala carte items.
🔸'Noodle set meal' $10.80 (choose mushroom in oyster sauce instead of parrot fish) comes with fried bean curd & white creamy sauce plus 1 drink (Chinese tea)🍶
.
Noodle is fine & springy with high plump mushroom. 🍄 Surely Mui Kee is a must try congee place as it surpass other congee places we tried so far! 👍
There is something about queuing which we like when it comes to food (long queue in front of restaurant = tasty! plus a sense of accomplishment after finally trying it! 😜). Next to the queue, there is a bucket of water but we didn't even drink as the waiting time on Friday 13:45 pm is manageable. Fast forward 15 mins, we are seated & ready to try their famous congee.🤠
.
We tried 2 set meals 👉
🔸'Congee set meal' $10.80 (we pick lean meat congee)comes with century egg & You Tiao, 1 drink (Hong Kong coffee +$1 for cold)
.
Congee's so smooth with plenty lean meat that we almost forgot that the rice congee's there. You Tiao tastes so addictive that we ponder if we should grab it as a takeaway snack.👌
