Warning: this restaurant tends to be crowded, so come early or expect a wait of no less than an hour.
Though it may be famous for its cheese bee hoon (which I tried and wasn't particularly wowed by it), what caught my tastebuds by surprise was the Fresh Milk Crab. The sauce was sweet and yet had a tinge of tanginess that was borderline spicy, but the unique flavor had be clamoring for more. The crab meat was juicy and portions were large, making the trouble of getting the meat out worth it. Served with toasted bread instead of the usual mantous made it less filling (which was made up for by the crab meat)
A new store right outside Sushi King, it caught my eye with its chic storefront that was heavily Japanese inspired.
Decided to go for the black sesame soft serve, which was accompanied by red bean, glutinous rice balls, crispy rice puffs and sprinkled with roasted soybean powder sprinkles (RM8.50) Unfortunately, the rice balls weren't available, so they gave me extra red bean and even a sample of their matcha soft serve (plus points for service!)
The soft serve had a smooth consistency and while the sesame taste wasn't that strong, it was sufficient and paired well with the rice puffs. Rather heavy, so I had trouble finishing it at the end, but was nonetheless very satisfying.
For all you kueh fanatics out there - this is a place where you will satisfy all your cravings! They sell all kinds of traditional kuehs, from the usual suspects like the 9-layer kueh and kueh salat, to more unique ones like kochi puteh (shredded coconut with sesame). Best of all, they are all handmade!
I personally tried the Ondeh Ondeh and kueh salat, and really enjoyed it! They weren't too sweet and the kuehs were soft. Most of them were sold for RM10 and below, so if you're craving some kueh, it would be a great place to go to.
Getting there may be challenging without a car though, as it is located further inside from the main road.
