Chinese New Year Goodies

Got these at the CNY fair at Velocity Novena. From Honey Sweet, a halal bakery. Been hunting high and low for these! Quite hard to find. This was good, very nutty and not sweet. Exactly what I wanted.

Got these at the CNY fair at Velocity Novena. From Honey Sweet, a halal bakery. They had other kuey bangkit flavors too but I felt this was the best. Loved the crispy outer layer and the soft melty inner layer. Not very sweet, didn’t feel overwhelmed even after popping a few (ok 8) in my mouth. Each cookie was quite big.

I bought these babies at the CNY fair at Takashimaya Square. This was the first sample I tried at Butter Studio booth. Sooo buttery, with a hint of salted egg. There was a blob of yellow jam on top, which I thot was salted egg jam. Very nice I liked it very much. Went home, opened it, and ate half the tub at one go 🤭

Got these babies at the CNY fair at Takashimaya Square. I liked that they were not sweet, with a lovely sourish tang from the pineapple filling. Couldn’t really taste very strong cheese flavor, just a subtle hint but it was there. Quite buttery, size quite big. I had to stop myself from eating more than 5 at one go.

A fairly big box. Bigger than my yearly-must-have Tai Thong love letters and more expensive by only $4. Lovely coconut fragrance and not too sweet. Very addictive cos of its crunch. I think this was crispier/harder than TT.

Got these babies at the CNY fair at Takashimaya Square. The truffle aroma was so alluring, and the cookies were buttery and melt in the mouth. Wasn’t expecting much, but after tasting one, I had to get it. Parmesan and truffle combi really worked.

Absolutely delightful. The salted egg taste was there. Very buttery and melt in the mouth. Almond bits too small, could do with bigger bits. I finished half the tub at one sitting and already planning second purchase... They had a black sesame version too. Gonna get that as well.

These thick slices of BBQ pork is a must have for me every Chinese New Year. And I go one month before so I don’t have to queue. Only a few flavors are available for walk in. And they stop taking orders quite early so call way in advance.

These slices were so thick that there were only a few slices in a 500g pack. So good to chew. The more you chew the juicier it gets. Absolutely delicious.

No surprises here, this tasted just like it described. The pork floss inside was nice thou the rolls were not as crispy as I hoped for. But it still made a nice snack for tv.

This was better than I expected. Very very crispy thou the rolls were a bit small. Still, the heh bi flavor was good and they were spicier than I remembered.

They had two versions, the normal prawn roll and prawn roll king. King was the spicier one. Very light heh bi flavor. Very bland overall only spicy taste. Felt like crunching on chili wrapped in crispy skin. Prawn rolls are my kryptonite, and I usually can’t put them down, but I didn’t like these.

Each crispy mini roll was bursting with rich intense heh bi-ness. Very home made taste. I didn’t detect much spiciness as I chewed. Just as I was starting to feel disappointed, it kicked me in the mouth. Delicious.
