Alright
Love Haakon for clean eating days! Got the Avocado Vegan Bowl this time, and I enjoyed everything but the quinoa patty. Think I might try a make your own bowl next...
I’m always on the lookout for good Japanese pastas. Got the carbonara and the mentaiko spaghettis to try, both were a little disappointing and dry. We also got the escargots and clam chowder to start, both of which were only passable. Happened to be in the area on a Monday, so we got a 20% off the bill because of their Ladies Night promotion.
Been wanting to try out this place as my family loves Shin Yeh in Taipei. Ordered Sautéed Oysters ($16), Pork Ribs ($10/pc), French Beans with Minced Meat ($14), Radish Omelet ($14) and Rice Balls with Peanuts ($3.20). Sadly, food quality is far from the Taipei outlets’ standards.
Also didn’t realize this restaurant is under the TungLok Group, for those who have the loyalty card.
Couldn’t wait to try this laksa that’s on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list! The soup is thick and rich, more like a gravy. It was good, but I wouldn’t queue for it again. Was there at about 1pm, and I waited in line for more than half an hour. Beware the office crowd who order for all their colleagues... the guy ahead of me ordered 8 bowls, which made the wait even longer. Definitely go during off peak hours!
Got the 2 person portion at $12. We arrived at 830pm, and there was a half hour wait. The stall owners were super nice, but the dish was only alright. The rice was mushy, and I prefer my rice to be on the drier side. Still fun though, as they provide oil & dark sauce on the side for you to add as you like.
Wasn’t my favorite, won’t order again. Many other better dishes on the menu!
Got the original cinnamon sugar churro with Nutella dip. Was not good, hard and somehow tasted stale even though they freshly fried it.
We went to the new branch at Stevens Road. The boy’s never had black pepper crab before 😱 (he says he loves chili crab too much to ever pick anything else), so took him to try. It was good (other than the disturbing decoration on every plate), but he’s still staying true to the chili crab!
Biggest ripoff ever. $10 for 5 teeny pieces... and each piece was way more dough than nutella.
Disappointing offering from my most favourite ramen joint in SG. Don’t waste stomach space on this, go for either the Shoyu ramen or the Tsukemen. Both are fabulous, I’ll never be able to choose which I like better!
First time I came by the place was closed, second time they were sold out of pearls. Third time lucky tho, and I managed to get a cup of honey green tea with amber (brown sugar) pearls. Flavoured pearls are a cool idea, but it was too sweet for me. Might have been the combination I chose. Anyhow, these pearls don’t sit well, so try to finish when the drink is still fresh!
Tried the chicken xiaolongbao... Was expecting intense chicken soup goodness, just like how the pork xlbs are pure pork flavour. But they were far from it, and worse, there was cilantro mixed in the filling, so cilantro haters, beware! Chicken marker in the basket was adorable tho
