Coffee & Tea
It is the ultimate yuan yang, the roasted velvety espresso surprisingly matches well with the Uji matcha which gives the drink a distinct after taste that we like in matcha. The decor of the place is rather Muji. I had to run and could not sample anything more. But I will be back.
Had a work meeting at this place today. They have all day breakfast and there are tables that can be combined for larger group meetings. The croissant sandwich was ok, the scrambled eggs was a little dry but the salad came with a very nice dressing.
The matcha latte was a little sweet. I hoped to have the option to adjust the sweetness.
The latte was pretty regular
No options for less sugar or no sugar - so pls take note. The tea was a little bland, unlike typical Char Chan Teng style milk tea. It’s probably pre-made in a huge dispenser, because I barely selected a table to sit my number was called to pick up my order.
The ambience and setup is pretty nice but the food is a little underwhelming. The milk tea was above average and that was their redemption. Maybe their other items were better but I only had this as I wasn’t really hungry at that time. I don’t recommend any of their bun burgers
I remember the location as fresh fruits lab and loved their stuff. Was surprised to see another cafe but realised it’s by the same people that owned the previous place. The coffee was fragrant and balanced. I will need to go back for food the next time. But I really liked the aesthetic it has a very French Bistro vibe
Also the paper straw that they gave me didn’t disintegrate after a few sips.
What’s better than decent milk tea? Milk tea with WiFi and Free charging of my iPad. Brought my car for servicing and waiting for the report I walked 3 mins to Marymount CC and found this little nook! Support local!
The dough is nice and chewy, the filling is sweet but not overly so. Plus it has a modern and extremely functional paper packaging that is eco friendly and even has their own branding. So Posh even for something as cheap as 90c
If you come by Tampines blk 201E. Check it out!!
The waffle came nice and hot, it was crispy just the way I liked it, it had some salty caramel sauce although I really appreciate it if I had more of it but it was sufficient, just not enough to make it decadent.
The vanilla ice cream was well paired with the waffle. To balance the sweetness if we had some diced fruit like strawberries would cut through and cleanse the palette. Overall great for my sweet tooth, not good for the waistline. But love it anyway.
Great place for a meeting on a weekday.
I ditch the toothpicks for a spoon to eat my muah Chee. It’s chewy the fragrance of the onion oil permeates my olfactory senses. Then when I put it in my mouth the chewy moochi texture and the black sesame is like a marriage made in heaven, releasing the roasted sesame flavor with each bite. Must try when you come to Toa Payoh!
My favourite pork porridge stall. 4/5 stars
It doesn’t seem to include any MSG that I can detect, and you have free flow spring onions which I love to add lots of it.
And best of all, you just order and go and sit down the stall holder will serve you a piping hot bowl of porridge that you will need some time to eat. It has taken it a record 3 hours to cool to room temperature.
I have eaten half the bowl and I am so full yet there is so much porridge and chock a block filled with pork balls, cuttlefish, intestines. I ordered 猪杂粥 which is a mixture of pig offal (intestines mainly) lean pork, minced pork balls (hand made)
It’s so so good just like how I would cook at home if I had the time.
Surprisingly this came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it was thick strong tea, but without the bitter aftertaste of lousy cheap teas. So for $3.20 this is good!! Goes well with your HK buttered polo bun - best match in heaven for afternoon tea
