#ThrowbackThursday: Lunch the other day with a friend πŸ₯πŸ™πŸ£πŸ± Yummy stuff, although pretty pricey too. Spicy Fishcake Gimbap Roll at S$10.50. The takeaway packaging is very neat and aesthetically pleasing 😊

With 24 variations of sundubu (traditional Korean stew with tofu, egg, seafood and spring onion), the first Tokyo Sundubu outlet from Japan is the place to go with your female lunch kakis, especially on a rainy afternoon. Choose from three different soup bases and four levels of spiciness before selecting the type of stew β€” options include tomato sundubu and miso sundubu. While many places pre-slice the tofu, the slabs here are left intact, so you can mash it to your desired consistency. Try the Health & Beauty Sundubu ($18), served with chicken, lady's fingers and a scoop of collagen for a midday complexion boost!
Avg price: $20 per person

for gst-free dishes under 10$ and a hearty meal in a cozy little restaurant πŸ€— $9.90 army stew was yummy with a generous portion of ζ–™ and the rather unappetizing-looking kimchi pancake turned out to be super unique and delicious! probably not worth the $3.90 though πŸ€”

Seafood soondubu ($19.9) with sizeable amount of clams, shrimps, squid and mussels in their freshly handmade tofu at this new Korean restaurant from LA (but managed by Koreans) specializing in tofu stews. I prefer this over the Beef Soondubu ($18.9) as there was a slight beefy taste in that and the seafood one is a lot more sweeter. I went for the medium (choose from mild, medium, spicy, crazy hot β€” I wouldn't recommend anymore spicier than medium as it was already rather oily for mine) and the spice level was just nice for me.

Rice is served hot in the stone bowl and the remaining is left inside with some corn tea added and covered. It's meant to be enjoyed after the meal like a "porridge". The broth tasted somewhat like the Korean barley tea but it was nothing spectacular and I just had some at the end of my meal to cleanse my tastebuds!

Apart from the soondubu, free flow banchans include seaweed, kimchi and whole fried fish(!!) β€” the former two were a little salty on its own but when wrapped with rice, IT IS PERFECT. I lost count on the number of refills we had for the seaweed! μ§„μ§œ λ§›μžˆμ–΄μš”~

SBCD Korean House is located at Tanjong Pagar Centre #B1-01/02 1130-2200 daily!

Everything about this is comfort. Think bacon, chives, cheese, on a pancake base fried to a crisp. Not bad really, if only it wasn't half as oily/sinful and had actual pieces of kimchi instead. Not sure if bacon made for the best topping too, since the texture of fried bacon in itself is craggy, add that to the already-crisp pancake.

Portions here at this mod-Korean bar are on the small side for the price. They have makgeolli which tastes more like soda.

I am not sure of the relation between this and BCD in NYC, but the offerings seem very similar, including the banchan.

If I haven't had BCD (which was Super good) then maybe I would like liked this Soontofu a lot more.
Soontofu is a type of jjigae (Korean stew), consisting of freshly curdled tofu, ingredients of meat or seafood, egg and gochujang served in a hot stone pot with white rice on the side.
For the rainy type of weather.

Honey butter chicken comes in normal chicken parts or tenders. The chicken is really crispy, juicy and tender and sprinkled with generous amount of honey butter powder ($12) It's realllyyyy good! The chicken served are always piping hot and crispy, which is definitely a plus. Kimchi pancake ($8.50) is not bad, worth the try if you're a kimchi pancake lover. And the army stew ($13.90 for 2-3pax) is not too bad as well. I would say the highlight here is definitely the chicken. πŸ‘πŸ»oh and mozerella cheese sticks are going for $5 for 4 pcs, which is pretty tasty as well. (How wrong can cheese sticks go?)

Situated just a few doors down from the original O.bba is this new outlet named O.bba Jjajang at 77 Tanjong Pagar Road where the signatures served here includes the Jajangmyeon, a Chinese-style seafood noodle soup and a Sweet & Sour Pork Dish.

Pretty much enjoyed the Jajangmyeon here which is usually priced at $10 for lunch, but there is an opening promo where the price is at $7.70 now with three small dishes at the side. It's also pretty much one of the better Jajangmyeon I have had β€” it's not overly sweet but there is definitely enough Jajang to coat the chewy noodles with; one can even bite in bits of meat within the sauce and there is quite a generous amount of onions within that I absolutely love. One of the places I guess I would revisit again if the craving hits!

Comes with a side dish of cucumber / Anchovies / Kimchi 》$7.50

One thing i like about Baro Baro is that, the food is satisfying and the menus' reasonable price. The staff too are friendly and attentive. Sometimes the place can get too crowded but you know what, falling and waiting n line will be worth it. I tell you.❀️😍
