A good Claypot rice also requires good flavour and nicely crisp rice at the bottom of the pot. To our surprise, we found a relatively good one at the basement of Centrepoint. Malaysia Chiak serves Penang food and this Claypot rice is worth the mention. Tender Chicken, Salted Fish and the yummy rice crisp. If only they added Lup Cheong to it and it will be perfect!

This came to the table rarer than i expected 😳 but then i took great joy in grilling the beefy slivers on the individual hotplates that were provided to my preferred doneness.. Which is hard, given i don't cook steaks much at home :/ all in all, it was a fun little exercise, and the beef was moderately tender though the fried batter overwhelmed any flavour it had. The lunch set made it a better deal by including rice, free-flow cabbage and a panna cotta dessert.

I'm also not a usual fan of mentaiko but PMS hormone wreck made me order this today. The generous sauce also meant it's quite too salty, great for those who love strong flavours. The gyoza filling is generous too and panfried nicely, though I'd prefer them slightly more charred. [breaking news] my mum cooked boiled Korean mandus, which are essentially boiled gyoza for dinner. She can sometimes read my food craving over distance but it sometimes spells overkill 😅

At least amongst those I've tasted.

I was initially a little disappointed when it arrived because of the lack of colours. I would appreciate if they had served this with some strawberries instead of that boring looking dollop of cream that I didn't need. Vanilla bean ice cream is nice though.

I was further disappointed when I cut into the lava cake to find very little lava flow. It wasn't that the lava was too thick to flow but there just wasn't much liquid in there in the first place.

But I fell in love with the first bite. The bittersweet dark chocolate cake is crusty outside, soft and fluffy inside. And that tiny bit of lava flow is actually my favourite salted caramel butter! While I am used to having chocolate lava in my chocolate lava cakes, I think the use of salted caramel lends the cake a nice mix of flavor so that it's not just boring chocolate. Of course, that could be just me, the salted caramel fan fangirling. 🙈🙊😂

The exterior of the foie gras is slighty crispy and you could taste slight twinges of saltiness when eating it. The foie gras itself is slightly stringy. Eating a bite of the puree after eating a bite of the foie gras enhances the experience, as opposed to eating them together.

An easy drink for someone like me who likes it a little sweet and not too overwhelming with the alcohol kick. The piece of chocolate is the perfect complement to nibble on as you sip this drink.

The Other Room is a speakeasy with its entrance well hidden as a wall in the lobby of Marriott. If it's your first visit you'll probably have to ask for directions. The interior is rather dark but casual enough for chatty outings with colleagues or friends.

Had their pulled beef 🐮 with whole wheat wrap, filled with brown rice, baby tomatoes, corn, sautéed mushrooms and lettuce. Ingredients were fresh and the pulled beef 🐮 was juicy and tender. This hidden gem at the basement of Paragon B1 is a must try for 🌯 lovers.

K commented that my combination was quite good but I believe it's the freshness of the ingredients la. (I had the traditional nori + brown rice + avocado + crunchy jellyfish + roasted mushroom + steamed ebi + sweet corn + wasabi furikake + yuzu sesame + grilled unagi fyi.) 15% discount with PAssion/ NTUC card!
