This is my second time having my CKT at this place. I decided to eat in rather than take away ($5.80) as I wanted to smell wok hei. Also CKT is at its best when eating straight out from the wok. The dish is decent with 1 big prawn, 1 small prawn and a few slides of Chinese sausages. 🦐🦐 It's a Penang style CKT with no cockles. I enjoyed it less than first time (taste wise) but still I would say it's better than average. 👌

Morning staples of this stall in block 127 Toa Payoh 1 got 60 years in its making! Great with soya bean drink and suggest having it right there.😸

Pressed for time but being a foodie we are quite picky what to takeaway! 😉 (Didn’t know that some wait quite long for this stall). Just know that they are famous in Toa Payoh and moved from Lor 6 to Lor 4. We went ahead at 12.20 pm and the lady at the stall switched from “Lai Lai” to “no more mee pok & mee Kia” 🔁
.
We ordered $5 | dry | yellow noodle| container takeaway (opt out plastic). We got the paper queue number and checked at the electronic board (got our order in just 7 mins).🛎
.
When we open the box, we are very pleased to see lots of ingredients (sliced pork, mince pork, liver and 2 pcs of abalone, bean sprouts ). Quite perplexed that we got both yellow noodle + Kway Teow.😄
.
The chilli & vinegar coat the noodle well with some lard traces. We enjoy their mixed bundle braised mushroom flavor & texture esp. abalone (only wish they have some greens) to make us feel healthier!! 💪😜💪

The delicate good Kueh Pie Tee should pack a punch with its filling and crispy shell. However, these 4 pcs Kueh Pie Tee takeaway end up with soggy top (we guess commuting steals all the crisp and turn 4 blossoming cups to sodden ones) 🤨
Luckily that the bottom of the cup still got some crunch from the dried shrimps. The sweet turnip & omelette power through each cup along with the sweet chilli sauce make this Super sweet. 🐜 Need to tone it down with a cup of ooh Long tea 🍵😙
Tip 💡 suggest not to do takeaway for this item

One of the famous popiah places in Singapore and we decide to find out if the rave is real and their secret behind the ’Plate Michelin’. The popiah skin is freshly made behind the stall. The fillings are prepared once the popiah skin is ready. We ordered takeaway 4 popiahs.🤘
.
When we open the box and take a bite at popiah. The 2 distinct flavours are spicy and sweet. The popiah skin is dry & chewy. Filling ingredients are egg, carrot, peanut (they cross out shrimp from their banner). The popiah might fare better for sweet tooth peeps. We feel it is too sweet for us and there is something lacking (ingredients wise) in their popiahs.🧐
.
Maybe it is because we order takeaway or their omitted ingredients, we would not queue for this though. 🤓

Now comes to the highlight of this stall other than coin prata. We asked Mr.Mohammed which murtabak we should go for (Chicken VS. mutton). Chicken murtabak is what he suggested. The murtabak skin is crispy in a polite way (no crackling sound) with plenty of onions and chicken strips. So fulfilling and delicious!! (not greasy at all as you won’t notice oil trace on the murtabak skin like some other places).🧐😄
.
The murtabak is as usual come with sauce but you can level up with mutton curry if fancy. Wish we can try sweet prata but this will be a good dangling carrot for our next outing!! 😜

What you pay is what you get in this case. One of us just want to have these 2 dishes as a side from the unknown stall in Golden Mile food center. It’s colorful & looks appetizing but our excitement stops once trying. Even got a small stomach ache as a bonus.😥

The pork belly is covered in strong flavoured tamarind gravy. It’s juicy, tender & what we need before we go meat free this weekend. Do support this stall as it’s so rare to find a not-so-pricy Peranakan food. We paid in total $19 (2 dishes: Nangka Lemak & this dish + 2 rice). Yes, it might seem more expensive than other hawker stalls but if you get good quality with great portion like this. Why wouldn’t you?
.
The ambience might be off mark with some slight disturbance (all types of push cart going between tables) while we sat there. Tips: Do takeaway if you prefer to enjoy your food & not being distracted! 👌💡 🙌 #happyweekendcheers!! 😎

It took us a bit of walk around basement of Golden Mile food Center to locate this stall. When we arrived at 2 pm, the stall has less crowd and we ordered this Nangka Lemak. The jackfruit curry is such a star! ⭐️ It is packed with flavours and the portion is good to share for 2 persons. We have no regret ordering this dish and it’s hard to decide if we prefer this dish (Peranakan cuisine) or the one we had in Indonesian restaurant.

One of us has a savoury tastebud and not really like to have sweets after meal. We manage to get this fish ball platter as a side dish. (The stall owner is friendly & chatty that we think we order too much 😅) Despite we grab a portion for 2 but 1 just finish the plate! No need to tell y’all how addictive it is.😆

Tastes nice although we wish the oyster will be fried a bit longer to get that crispy texture. We’d rather stick to either prawn cake or prawn noodle from now on.

The Kways are smooth & floating in the dark yet light broth. The pork intestine and innards are clean. The mixed platter is loaded with all goodies that you can enjoy with chili dipping sauce. Taste, season & enjoy this in the weekend.
