Fishhead Steamboat Singapore
Fish steamboat : the soup is very rich, milky,XO,slight salted fish taste, fried garlic, seaweed, sour plum , sweet and fragrance taste from vegetable. The soup is much heavier taste than bugis's nam hua fish head steamboat. The charcoal taste is lighter here and the fish scales weren't removed here! But bugis was more of a homey steamboat taste/feel and this is more of a special occasion eat at restaurant style. I will rate at 8/10. Due to different style, different taste entirely. $50 smallest portion to start with.
-Salted egg prawns here was pretty good. Sauce is thick filled totally just Salted egg. Many place their sauce is very watery. Not sticky not thick and eat for long it disgust the taste. I will rate the prawn here 8/10,$20 smallest portion Onwards.
-potato leaves were good tasting but too undercooked. Would prefer something that is more cooked, softer, sauce is not as tasty as a coffeeshop chi char stall at khatib I tasted. So I would rate 6/10,$9 smallest portion Onwards.
Good. Fish was fresh and cooked just right. The steamboat was actually just vegetables and fish but it was simple and satisfying with a flavourful soupbase - strong salted fish and charcoal lingering taste. Hawker styled, it cost about S$45 for 2 pax.
