Apparently the Top 10 Lontong in Singapore!!!
A cozy little hawker centre that apparently has many hidden gems...quite a bit of humans and some queues here and there!
Lontong is one of my favourite breakie choice from the malay macik stalls.
(For people who doesnt know)
Lontong is sticky rice clumps βshoweredβ with sayur lodeh (vegetable curry) + egg and beancurd. My favourite part is the dried coconut shavings that are a little spicy *drools*

Taste wise - it was really yummy.
The sambal is not the typical red chilli sauce, this one is a little brown, probably fried a little more with some special ingredients (maybe more coconut or shimps) - soooo goood!
But being the Β½ cantonese who loves their food steamy hot, the curry was not hot enough (which i understand why). The lontong pieces were a bit too huge and therefore quite a mouthful for a girl who was supposed to be a little more demure when she eats (i just gobble, idc π
π). When i bit into the lontong, it was βcoldβ (room temperature) π. Plus, cux of the size, i needed to top up with another scoop of the gravy.
Therefore...it could easily be my favourite lontong (for now) if i da bao and heat it up!!! π

π: π I forgot to ask uncle to make it less spicy. Luckily, it was not as spicy as it appears to be. The lava egg not very lava, still flavourful and acceptable. The noodles...QQ at lunch he right consistency π. The best was the soft ribs...the meat had form yet falls apart easily. Very well braised. Yummy.
Unfortunately, its too far to travel just for it from where i usually hang out. Good news is...they are apparently all over Singapore π
Hidden in a hawker centre, this lor mee is really SPECIAL. It has the crispy yummy stuff on top of the regular lor mee ingredients.
πΈ: $3.5o

The crispy special thingy won me. Many think that its yam...tbh im really not sure. Looks like a combi of shredded yam + enoki? #justspeculating #BurppleMajulahMakan
Minimal damage done to my wallet and
Yum yum for the tum tum....
πΈ: $4.50 with an additional packet of mock goose
π

Vegetarian food is nt my kind of thing...but im missing the mock goose (crispy beancurd skin)
The sweet & sour mock meat - i like!
2 slices of char siew, lava egg, potato fried prawn and 2 dumplings
Ramen with a twist...a fusion with the local flavours

They used the wanton mee's mee kia. It was very Q, perfectly done! I liked the fried prawn wrapped in potato....woahhhh!!! Best of all, it was no where near oily. The wanton was quite filled, thus v substantial. I didnt try the char siew as i dont eat pork belly, and it does hav a little porky smell...π
π». However, the soup with very flavourful. Similarly, it has a pretty strong porky taste - lucky i can accept it but its pushing my limits.
Im not so sure if this dish is considered an acquired taste or not. I missed that bowl of penang laksa i had in penang.
πΈ$5
Verdict: π The taste was decent but that's about it. Its a lacks the sour taste in the soup that makes me like penang laksa so much. The ingredients were a little too skimpy & there were hardly substantial looking mackerel flakes πΆ Would i purposely make a trip there? NAHHH.
I'll just get mum to hlp me to get from lavender (which idk whereπ
)
The dishes greeted us with a smell that had a tinge of salted fish π i do suspect that its their "secret ingredients".
The Ampang style YTF is "dry". The bean paste sauce rained over the pieces of YTF. A non-lover of sweet sauce definitely prefers this salty rendition π
Almost every single piece of YTF was deep fried - crispy BUT not oily. The selections were definitely not the widest and mayb not an option if you are feeling for healthy food. The seasoning of the YTF pieces complimented the bean paste sauce but not the most yummy i've had
πΈ $11, feeds 2
Verdict: π, its not bad but not enough to make me crave for it & make a conscious effort to remember it
(The angmoh who speaks good mandarin probably had a stronger impression on me π
)
FINALLY got a chance to taste the food from the Burning Oak. Uncle always tell me that the wait is at least 1hr π΅ but today was 10mins #score.
Recommended special of the day was this softy. Topped on smooth mash was all it took to compliment the dish. The beef cheek was very tender and succulent. The smell was a little strong initially but it tasted really AWESOME π²π²π² #Yummms
Currently on promotion, priced at $15 for a generous portion of beef cheek.
Verdict: love slow cooked stewed beef? Definitely have to try this one...simple yet satisfying...#happybelly #musclesarehappytoo
We went in the afternoon but was sold out! π΅Really feeling for fish & chips so we went back in the evening. We got there at 6.45, queued for 1h before we could order, and got our food slightly >1h later πΆ Lucky i wasn't too hungry that day else...πΉπΉπΉ the batter was great: loved the consistency and the crisp it gave to the fish. I preferred the salted egg sauce probably cuz i ain't a huge fan of chilli crab to begin with (cuz the gravy is usually on the sweet side & im not chilli-philia). Each plate is served with tartar sauce & a choice of a dip. Truffle mayo is recommended (then again...i love the smell n taste of truffle) Verdict: YUMS! But would i spend another 2hrs of my life waiting for my food...Nahh! π¦
