Random Daily Food Adventures
This place needs no further introduction! Not sure what was the reason it took me so long for popping by this little nook. The mentai rice was simple was stood out the most among all. Grilled squid was juicy with the right consistency, wasn't rubbery thank God. Only gripe was the price, perhaps? A little too steep. Others might disagree though.
A must order whenever you go Viet for noms. Pho King definitely did it right. I've yet to try the 'real deal' in the country where it originated, if you may say so. But it's alright, till then, I'm happy with this!
Pho was oh-so good and hit all em' right spots! Almost finished the whole bowl of soup (on hindsight, what's wrong with finishing the soup, eh?) Porridge was a pleasant surprise. Actually gave my dad the side eye when he ordered that in a Vietnamese restaurant. But gotta eat my own words (or rather the porridge!)
Then finally came the highly raved coconut pannacota. Sadly, this didn't meet my personal expectations. I was hoping for something more. Perhaps the choice of food we had earlier affected how this dessert could actually shine on its own? I don't know but I just don't feel it. Saving grace was it tasted a bit like the base of kuih talam which, I love.
This took a while but it's all worth it! We could see how much of effort was put into making this. Flavourful and love love the ulam raja salad which came with it. Good local sub for the usual rocket with vinaigrette!
Popped by the neighbourhood to check this place out after seeing so many raving reviews of it. We were the first to arrive but the place was soon filled up chatty and happy diners pretty quickly on a rainy weekday night. Obviously, this is a must-order and boy, I'm glad we did. Definitely highlight of our meal. The explosion of flavours and fatty textures, just so good! Somehow, I wish for the base to be slightly crispier, perhaps? It was doused with a little too much oil to my liking, personal preference. Good to share.
Thought of having a fancy lunch and this place came to mind. After passing by its mega billboard several times at the traffic light everyday, I think billboard ads really do work. Pesto pasta and grilled fish, basic but a little too oily. The greasiness didn't feel really good towards the end of the meal. Otherwise, a good place to go during long lunch hours.
It was a crazy hot afternoon. Somehow, we still had this in our minds. Crazy us, braved the traffic and heat ugh, to get to this place with parking issues as well! Talk about satisfying one's foodie calls. Simple yet heart and tummy warming meal.
Stumbled upon this eatery as it's always, always full with diners! Out of curiosity we checked out its menu and decided to dine in one random night. Turned out to be our best decision ever. Now this place in Taman Desa is my top place to go to whenever (almost always) I'm craving for some good old Chinese dishes. They do a pretty mean version of kulouyuk and onionlicious 'Thai Style' Sotong. Love it.
Not a single word was exchanged. Only moans. And groans.
Good ones.
