While it's not Tai Cheong, the egg tarts from Jia Mei Mian Bao (#01-43) have a crumbly crust with just the right thickness. I also like how generously filled each cup is with not-too-sweet custard.

I have been finding a really solid plate of hk-style chee cheong fun since the one at Tanglin Halt Food Centre closed down and I can safely say that I found it. The "skin" of the rolls is impressive enough with its silky smooth texture and ample thickness. They are sold with different ingredients filled inside namely char siew, prawns, mushrooms and chai po. I will definitely come back for this again! 😋

Fiery Spicy Chilli

What intrigued me what the “ Super Spicy” Words on the signboard.

What you ask for - you get. I haven’t had such a fiery chilli hot experience in a Long while 😅

The home made chilli complemented the fried prawn mee so well . Instead of the usual thick bee hoon , yi ji uses the thin bee hoon which I felt was a better choice because of how well it soaks up the prawn stock.

The fried noodles were so tasty and non greasy .
Also, this prawn mee was unique in a way that there was more squid than prawns 🍤 in the prawn mee . There was also some pieces of pork belly . A nice change from the usual fried prawn mee .

This was a good rendition . I will surely be back for more of the fiery chilli .

Do look out for this stall ( orange plates) because there is another similar looking stall along the same row but it didn’t quite look as good as this one 😀

Each mouthful of the popiah ($1.80) is bursting with flavours!

The popiah skin is freshly made, delightfully thin and tender. The highlight is the fried ‘mang kwang’ (turnip), when combined with other standard ingredients including lettuce, egg, the popiah looks simple, yet delicious and addictive!

Finally decided to try Jin Hua fish soup, known as the top 10 fish soup in Singapore, and was utterly disappointed. Ordered the Fish slice bee hoon ($5.50) with additional fish and veggies. The soup was creamy due to the added milk, but it was bland. Same goes for the fish slices and thick bee hoon were not tender too.
