Cheap & Good
Where else can you get tender and moist chicken rice for such a steal??? Even my high school priced the chicken rice at a higher price! For it's price, it easily exceeded expectations.
FYI, the chilli packs a punch!
Springy noodles and tender meats. You should expect nothing less from the one michelin star restaurant. The vinegar taste in this one is *extremely* strong so each individual may have their own opinions on this. However, the seaweed soup at the background is great at cleansing your palate when the vinegar gets too much!
Ordered this to share with a friend but felt like the portion was manageable even for one! This (clay)pot of laksa wasn't overwhelmed by the coconut taste like other joints and was pleasantly enjoyable :) The laksa had a nice spicy kick to it though I'd wish it had a bit more 'liao' to it (only a few strands of chicken for me).
Would I revisit this store? Yes. Would I queue for more than 10 minute? Maybe not.
The obvious winner here is the roasted chicken as it had more flavour as compared to the steamed one. Despite not getting the drumstick, the meat was still tender and moist!!! I particularly liked the soup too, it wasn't your typical soup you get. Rice was flavourful and could be eaten all on its own too!
I just felt like I had a bit too little chicken on my plate. Had to order two servings to fill me up!
This bowl transported me back to Taiwan when i was younger and had my very first lu rou fan!!! Every grain of rice was soaked up the braised sauce which made it so good to even eat alone. The meat was nice and chopped up, perfect for eating with just a spoon. Honestly, what a steal??
WARNING: CHILLI PACKS A PUNCH
I'm an absolute sucker for ban mian so this was definitely a must try. The noodles were nice and springy and the ban mian had a nice kick to it as a whole! The spinach soup on the side was also really refreshing as it didn't have the MSG taste, just good ole spinach soup.
The amount of service given to customers here is really impeccable, even surpassing certain restaurants out there! Those who've been here before would know that the price has increased and the staff are patient and more than willing to explain the price hike to you.
They make sure every element of the dish is PERFECT before serving it out. The crispy potato surrounding the prawn, tender cha shu and perfectly cooked ramen egg are just testaments to the amount of effort put into each bowl.
Was it worth the wait? Perhaps, though I'd jump at this store every time if there isn't a perpetual long queue.
Came here to try a different store only to realised they don't open on Mondays so I decided to go back to my comfort food and I was pleasantly surprised.
This is the way hokkien mee should be done!!! This version is dry, having a creamy texture from soaking up the sauce that it normally sits in. The noodles itself were the star of the dish though the liao was quite scarce. The chilli given is also quite little but feel free to ask for more :)
P.S. the uncle cooks in batches so don't be too put off by the queue!
Couldn't find this place on Burpple which is a shame!! Master Prata.com (not to be confused with Master Prata at Alexandra) serves up seriously crispy pratas, perhaps even crispier than Mr and Mrs Mohgans! The pratas did taste a little dough-y though. Overall one of THE CRISPIEST pratas in town.
Go for the kosongs [$1] as they won't disappoint! You can hear the crunch from chewing on the pratas (they're that crispy!!). The egg prata [$1.60] wasn't crispy (duh) but i'd say it's better than most egg pratas out there. It gets slightly oily but these calories are worth it 😋
Where else can you get such good kosong pratas for $1? It truly lives up its name of serving super crispy pratas. To my surprise, the plate wasn't oily when i finished my prata too!
The egg pratas weren't as crispy so stick to the kosongs if you value your prata's crispiness. Note that the variety is very limited here!
Not really sure what the name of the dish was but it was a really nice meal! they weren't very generous with the liao but the soup was on point 👌 just $3 for a simple breakfast
