Halal Thai
How was your weekend? š Iām here to share a really wallet-friendly place for delicious, authentic thai food right in the heart of East Coast. The name @jaisiam rings a bell for that yummy thai food at Dhoby Gaut Exchange. Good news for eastiesāthey have an outlet in the east too! Start your meal with their Mixed Platter ($12) filled with a nice mix of Thai Fish Cake, Thai Prawn Cake, Tofu, and Crispy Spring Rolls. Tuck into a piping hot bowl of Seafood Tom Yum Soup ($10) that has the right balance of tangy and zest (itād be better if they had more seafood in the broth!). We also had their Fried Chicken Pepper & Garlic ($10) which was a bit too soggy and dry. Their Fried Prawns with Basil Leaf ($14) was decent but prawns were a bit too small for a medium portion. We chose Tilapia Sweet Sour fish ($20) and the sweet sour sauce had a diluted consistency but the freshness of the fish made up for it. We paired the meal with some Stir Fried Kailan Salted Fish ($10) and Prawn Meat Omelette ($7). Both were decent but Iāve had better thai omelettes (thai omelettes are usually very light, fluffy, and crispy). With all these indulgent food on the table, Iām glad they offered brown rice ($1.80) and white rice ($1) to appeal to all customers. Definitely value for money and super affordable! š
For $7.50 a plate, the portions for Prawns Pad Thai are too small. Ordered the Clear Tom Yum Soup ($6) and Tom Saap Soup ($7.50), along with the Mango Sticky Rice ($7) too and they taste very average, at best.
It was the perfect dinner experience having the Deluxe ($19.90 before service charge) buffet at this recently halal cafe. Extremely worth the money because of the wide array of food choices and they are all very, very delicious! Free flow drinks (thai milk tea, bandung, iced lemon tea!) & icecream too! They even have a DIY mini pizza where patrons can cook their own pizza in the wood oven! Indulge & upgrade to their more expensive buffets for more seafood choices like crab and divine oysters! But I personally feel the Deluxe buffet is sufficient for a balanced meal š
Decent halal thai food, nothing special ($7.90 set meals) (mango sticky rice $6)
Perfect Tom Yum Seafood Soup ($8.80+), generous and delicious Honey Chicken ($8+), but too much fish sauce HK Fried Rice ($5.80+)
