Hawker Food
Beef kway teow soup. Standard still the same And i love the broth. So glad its opened today. Its been a long time. Since my childhood days this stall is already famous. They are closed every Monday. Opening hours 4-9pm. For this week, the hawker centre would be washing on 22-23 Apr. 25 Apr then this stall will opened. I travel all the way from west to east for this. Choice of $5 or $7 I came here 4+pm to beat the evening crowd.
Delicious plate of lontong $3.50
If you like meatball, sotong ball then you will like this. $4.50 + $0.50 for rice. I like that these are made from scratch. Price wise it’s reasonable for the amount of effect they prepare. Im prepared to pay more for hawker food as long as the hawkers are friendly and sincere with their food. 🙂 You cant expect hawkers to charge too cheap as the cost of living has gone up. I will enjoy these food while it lasts especially cooked by elderly hawkers.
[Recommended] $2.30 per dish. The char siew pau is very nice and smooth. Har gao, siew mai also very nice. Waited close to 45 mins. Popular mainly with elderly. When we were waiting for the number to flash, next table to us was 2 ang mo ladies also enjoying the dim sum. Remember to take the number first at the stall and wait for your number to flash then place your order. Recently I keep having cravings for dim sum thanks to the ch8 9pm show Heart to Heart. 🙂 at least manage to find the smiling char siew pau and near my workplace. I will be back
Quite nice. $2 per bowl. Thou my favourite stall for chendol is still Nyonya Chendol.
Omelette, minced meat and vegetables + 2 sweet potato porridge $5 + tau huay $0.90 The porridge stall is next to the hokkien mee stall at level 1
Had prawn noodles $4 for lunch recommended by the plastic surgeon Woffles Wu in his book. He had it in his childhood and the stall still stands in Hong Lim #02-57 so I had to give it a go. Its decent bowl of prawn noodles. Love the chilli powder. And compared to another prawn noodles stall at circular road, this prawn noodles soup broth wasn’t as oily so its a plus point. Btw hong lim would be closing 2 months for repair works starting 1 Nov. So it reopens in Jan 2019. Will miss the nice food there. Hope to see the old hawkers back in Jan.
Spinach soup that consists of 2 prawns, mushroom, egg and lots of spinach for $3.50. Add on white rice $0.50. Generous portion of spinach.
🙂 its nice and this place is famous for this and it goes well with the braised duck at their shop. Not sure of the price as it was a potluck dish.
My colleague and I tried the laksa $4. Wasnt really wow by it, tastes normal but I can feel the uncle's passion for his food. He is in the Bib Gourmand list for 3 years in a row.
Recommended. Old school style. Satay Beehoon with the pig liver so soft and tender and same goes with the cuttlefish and pork. I didnt take the hum. Will be back again.
Its nice and ice is smooth. Be prepared for long queues during meal times. If you want sweet corn + red bean its $2.50. If not without red bean is $1.50, with sweet corn $2 or with durian ice cream is $3. They have other branches. This is at Bt Timah Hawker Centre. The rest of the branches are Old Airport, Whampoa..
