Late Night Eats In KL
Traditional wood-fired oven thin and crispy pizzas with generous toppings. Opens till late night and has a lively atmosphere. Parkings are usually limited at store front, best to park at the surrounding neighbourhood
One of my favourite middle eastern spots in KL! Juicy kebabs and attentive service, what's more to ask for. Portions are huge but don't worry, the waiters will stop you from ordering more. For drinks, go for the Moroccan mint tea!
Tip: Cheap shisha and ample parking
Yong tau foo heaven! You can spot rare choices such as stuffed angled beans, long beans, crispy fried wanton with special stuffing, etc. If you're an offal fan, don't miss the caramelised intestines. Also, don't forget the curry cheong fun which is topped with shrimp, slurps!
Wobbly eggs, chopped roti canai drenched in dhal, curry and sambal, freshly made and served within minutes of ordering. It's open 24/7, spot me there for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper!
Their teh tarik comes in 2 sizes, the small one suits me perfectly but I always go with less sugar.
If you're worried about parking, it's walking distance from the LRT station. It's always crowded but the turnaround is quick so don't give up ☺️
Cold cuts, smoked duck breast, assorted cheese, bruschetta, olives, cantouloupe and breadstick were skillfully displayed on a board. This platter was meant for 2 (RM88), but can definitely feed more. This Italian restaurant didn’t disappoint, we were presented with a large selection of pasta and pizzas. The portion here is humongous, so try to not over-order! We were stuffed to the brim, but will come back to try their highly recommended tiramisu.
Food was good especially the Moroccan spiced cauliflower, flavourful and memorable. Food portion is small, slightly larger than tapas-portion, with the couple next to us ordering 6 dishes and 2 desserts.
Parking:
Beware of the parking attendants when parking along the road! Initially we paid 1 man who came to us after we parked our car. He gave us a crumpled receipt (looks reused). After the meal, when we were heading to the car, another parking attendant mentioned that we did not pay him and demanded that we pay again. We insisted that we paid his 'friend' but he said he was the attendant of the night and refused to accept our parking receipt.
Finally found a place in KL that serves 月光河, the superior cousin of the traditional Chinese “Wat Dan Hor”. It definitely has the important elements of a “Dai Chow”, the “Wok Hei” and a generous portion of pork lard! Parking is not an issue and food is fast.
SPICY FOOD LOVERS ALERT! Choose your fish and your spiciness level, with multiple levels from A to G, where G is the spiciest. NO JOKE. As someone very immuned to capsaicin, I could barely manage B-minus. Tears were streaming, nose was running, emotions were flying. Diners can sit inside or outside, would strongly recommend sitting inside with air-conditioning, much needed when the food is flaming hot! Service is prompt but parking is a problem during peak hours.
A place that feeds me warm and healthier food past midnight. Fong Wah is open from 10am to 4pm daily which caters for people from all walks of life. Although at 1am, they still have a variety of local and authentic dishes to choose from, mainly braised food. Food in pic: Plain porridge paired with braised duck and pork, salted vegetable and pig’s stomach soup.
One of the hidden gems for Venezuelan food. The shredded beef is part of Venezuela’s national dish, Pabellon Criollo, served with stewed black beans, rice and fried plantains. We couldn’t get enough of the juicy and savoury beef so we had the La Cachapa, pancakes of fresh corn, topped with cheese and beef. For rum lovers, you’ve came to the right place for Venezuelan rum! Will definitely be back to try more items on their menu!
