Not Your Typical Chinese Food
Fish noodles for everyone.
There’s a selection of fresh fish, fried fish, garoupa (with bones) or fish fillet, fish paste or sliced meat and meat balls for non-fish lovers. I’ve been a yee meen person but there are options for meehoon, vermicelli, etc. The broth is flavour-packed with fish bones, evaporated milk, sour vegetables and a dash of Chinese wine.
Glad that they’re open at 7.30am so I can always get a quick fix before work!
Must order at Chinese restaurants and definitely did not disappoint. Tender chicken served cold (not many places serve it cold) drenched in the signature mala sauce. For those with low spicy tolerance please prep your drinks!
Saltiness of the creamy cheese is balanced by the sweetness of Oreo, definitely a child’s favourite especially when dipped with fried mantaus
A positive twist for a non-soupy person, getting my dose of concentrated asam laksa. Don’t give up if you have to wait for tables, the turnover is quick and food is served promptly.
Nothing better than well marinated minced pork, crunchy pork lard and runny egg. Service is good and they constantly checked on us as it was our first time there!
Generous with oysters large enough for the naked eye to spot and also freshly fried upon ordering
Juicy and flavourful, often sold out, be sure to order this at the start of your meal!
A type of clam known as sabak in Cantonese, these have a thicker shell and generally fetch juicier meat. Grilled in a foil wrapper, the rice wine and ginger gravy reduces to a delicious concoction while the clams seep up all flavour. This isn't actually from Fatty, but they're in good terms so it's ok to order from the pop-up stalls while dining here.
Sushi King's Yee Sang is by far the most affordable which starts from RM20.01, serves 2-3 pax. It's covered with tempura batter, salmon slices and some baby octopus, cushioned by fresh vegetables and boiled ramen. Not too bad for a budget meal ☺️
Yee Sang with a Japanese twist - Ippudo adds on Japanese seaweed, deep fried ramen and tempura battered bits, topped with a generous portion of fresh salmon. RM55 each!
An interesting selection of yee sang serving fresh ingredients like cranberries, nutmegs, raisins, breadcrumbs, pumpkin and purple cabbage, then drizzled with homemade concocted sauce.
- Small comes with 6 slices of salmon sashimi (2-4 pax): RM48 nett
- Large comes with 12 slices of salmon sashimi (6-8 pax): RM88 nett
100% chicken soup. No artificial flavourings, just pure chicken essence. Period. RM110/urn, enough to serve at least 16 bowls!
