Japanese! 🍣🍱🍙
somewhat stuck in a mentaiko craze right now so when I spotted this in the menu, how could I have possibly said no?? 🤪 it was a very value for money set, since $18 gives you not just the sea bream, but also a serving of 2 pieces of soft shell crab, chawanmushi, a salad, miso soup and rice! the fish itself was not bad and I find myself coming back here quite often because of the very reasonable prices! but these sets are only available for lunch I think so definitely consider coming down for lunch instead!
this came with a really generous serving of a mix of different kinds of salmon including aburi salmon and sashimi! I think it’s a good deal given how much salmon there is for the price! you can also top up $2 for a lunch set that comes with a salad, miso soup and hot tea.
seared beef and a poached egg drizzled with truffle soy sauce. the beef was tender with a hint of truffle. the rice was also unexpectedly good, really enjoyed this bowl!
the rice was fluffy and sticky, but lacked the taste of yuzu or ume that the menu claims it has. it’s also supposed to be topped with sashimi but ours came more towards the cooked side. as a whole, it was ok, but at the same price point, I would personally stick to their mains instead.
salmon and mentaiko are a match made in heaven 😍 paired it with soba and it went really well together! mix it a little to coat the soba with mentaiko and it’s absolutely delicious! added an egg for $1 but for $10.90 it’s definitely a value for money meal especially since it’s in cbd.
Was looking for a warm bowl of noodles on a rainy day and decided on this bowl that comes with sukiyaki beef and a poached egg. Soba was good without being too soft. The broth was tasty, albeit a little salty, but bonito broth is provided by the side to dilute the soup so all was good!
I’ve always preferred eating tonkotsu ramen but this dry ramen has probably changed that. This bowl looks deceptively simple but the taste was really good! The ramen was chewy with a good bite and the meat sauce was nicely seasoned with a hint of spice so there was a nice kick to it!
Yakitori Don Set ($15++) The don came with 4 yakitori sticks, which tasted really delicious, albeit a little salty. My favourite was definitely the lady's fingers wrapped with meat! The set also came with a bowl of udon, so really worth the $15!
