Where To Eat On A Saturday Evening
Very comforting Thai food at Lorong Chuan. It’s a small restaurant nestled at New Tech Park, with cosy vibes and soft lighting.
I loved the mashed potato and bacon bits. I could eat 10 at one seating if I could! Absolutely delicious.
Hot buckwheat noodles with grilled chicken in soup, with yuzu peel. It was comforting with the hot soup, though I felt that the yuzu peel didn’t really add to the appeal.
Ham and egg always make for a comfort meal, and they are just a pairing that can never go wrong. I loved the honey baked ham, bacon and eggs - they created a combination that was made to be ❤️
This pizza bar is a hidden spot within One Man Coffee, and it opens till late. The ingredients are plenty - honey baked ham, pepperoni, Italian sausage, button mushrooms, green peppers & kalamata olives on tomato sauce. I found this a bit salty for my liking. What I liked most about the pizza was the thin and crispy crust, that gave a nice crisp when bitten into it.
I had affordable steak with Burpple Beyond at The Assembly Ground and I’m really pleased 🤩 I got myself Steak and Frites [RTP: 28++] with my steak medium well. I’m not a fan of bloody meat but I was also afraid my steak might be too tough. I was pleasantly surprised that the meat was still tender and easy to cut through, and I really enjoyed the meat along with the black pepper sauce. The shoestring fries weren’t too salty and were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was quite an enjoyable meal. Ended the meal with some lovely kombucha and my night was made 😇
The Cold Storage at Great World City has revamped itself into a much more premium supermarket that has offerings such as an oyster bar, sushi and 30-hour stone baked sourdough bread.
I tried the salad for the first time. For $7.90, you can get 1 base + 1 protein + 2 toppings + 1 dressing. I liked that they have interesting dressings that differentiated this salad bar from the rest. I got the tahini yogurt dressing - it was sour with a nutty aftertaste. The only gripe I have about this salad is that all the ingredients are extremely cold, even the teriyaki chicken. I would have preferred that the chicken was warm, as it would have brought out the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce. But it was still a tasty and healthy dinner, and good for days I don’t want to eat so much at night.
The chicken was fried on the spot, so it was fresh and juicy! I liked the noodles but the portion was a bit small... or maybe I am just a big eater.
Just some simple comfort food for the uninitiated. I quite liked the basmati rice. It feels a bit like fusion food, with the Japanese curry and cutlet... but it comes with basmati rice. A little different from the usual, but still delightful.
Despite its name, the fries are not spicy at all! The fries came with a cheese dip. Very fluffy interior that went well with the delicious cheese dip. The cheese dip tasted a bit like nachos cheese dip though.
It was a huge portion of lamb - I’m not a fan of lamb because of the “grassy” aftertaste. But the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender... and the sauce was savoury and delightful to taste. It went so well with the basmati rice!
Super tender chicken wings but had a slight spice to them. I’m not a fan of chicken wings but this was pretty good!
