Opened by the gutsy Zenn Eng, Cake Spade brings something fresh to the cake scene. Her tofu cheesecakes are genius, light and creamy at the same time, appealing even to those who don't like cheese or tofu (well, they don't actually contain tofu, it refers to the texture). The Strawberry/Peach Tofu Cheesecakes ($5.60) are must-try treats, as well as the Brownie Base Cheesecake ($6.50), which combines the best of two amazing worlds. What Cake Spade has really achieved is great balance and irresistible variety. Check out this little space for yourself, and get a few (or many) slices to share.
But it's at their pop up booth! And it's free SALTED EGG ice cream! Salted egg! With dry ice for ultimate dramatic effect and weird toppings galore πππ. It tasted like the real salted egg yolk but isn't overkill at all! What magic is this. I really like it. Giannnnnn.
Besides its humble kiosk at the basement of Robinsons The Heeren, this scoop shop has taken up a permanent space in Takashimaya, just across from Godiva. Venchi's location makes it a must before and after shopping, and perhaps while lining up at Tai Cheong Bakery. The 130-year-old Italian creamery prides itself as a specialised chocolate shop, which explains why their chocolate gelato flavours are spot on β luscious, rich yet not overly so. There are three sizes ($5.90 for one, $7.50 for two, $8.90 for three scoops) and 10 gelato flavours to choose from. If you're new to the party, grab a few friends and share three scoops. The milk-based Pistachio, creamy chocolatey Giandujotto and Venchi's best offering β the Cremino Venchi, a medley of hazelnut and chocolate gelato β go excellently together.
Avg price: $5 per person
