Part of the Japanese-inspired range of bread and pastries, this matcha red bean bun has been around since Bread Talk came up with a series of new buns and cakes in line with Japan’s Sakura season last year. Unfortunately, only this bun has managed to stay on the shelves while the other creations like the Tuna Edamame croissant and the Yakitori bun have all ceased to exist. This is my second time having this matcha bun as I didn’t like it the first time I tried it… bought it again to see if it would fare better than the previous time. Sadly, other than the decrease in the amount of flour dusted on the surface of the bun (yay to that; I really dislike the flour coating as I personally find it really messy and unnecessary haha), not much has differed – the red beans studded within the buns are still really sparse and pathetic in quantity, the bread itself has only a v v slight hint of green tea taste/smell, and the entire bun was just too dense for my liking 😞
I’m sorry for being harsh but… this was honestly one of the worst matcha buns I’ve ever tried 😕 Never again.
Roasted ground black sesame seeds tossed with sugar encased within a soft and fragrant bun. Love how every bite was guaranteed a mouthful of crunchy delight! This is truly the best black sesame bun I've ever tasted 😍💯
Peanut butter lovers, you wouldn't want to give this a miss! 😉 The bun to filling ratio is just right, any less filling would be too stingy on their part and any more would end up being too 'gelat'. It's best to eat this when it's fresh out from the oven, or if you're buying this home, try placing it in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds - the peanut butter will end up being all warm and flowy 😍
Do note that the price of this bun is not standardised (as well as all other buns/cakes/bread sold at Bakery Cuisine) as I've seen other Bakery Cuisine outlets selling it at $1.80 as well :)
Overall rating: 7.5/10
There wasn't any green tea taste at all, which was pretty disappointing given that the exterior of the bread was so brightly stained in green. Fortunately, there was an abundance of sweet, mushy red bean and the mochi was really sticky and chewy! I guess this could just be considered as a regular red bean mochi bun. 😊

Think thick, creamy pumpkin purée encased in a soft, pillowy bun - yum! 😋 Since Halloween is right around the corner, I decided to get this bun to satisfy my craving for pumpkins because of all the pumpkin-carving videos I've watched over the past few days 😂 And wow, coincidentally, it's also National Pumpkin Day today! hehe 🎃
Mama Patisserie is one of my favourite bakeries in Singapore, because of how consistent they have been since a few years back when I first discovered this bakery at its Fortune Centre outlet. Their buns are always densely filled, where the dough to filling ratio is about 3:2 😍 Oh and they sell vegetarian-friendly bread as well, so to all my vegetarian friends out there, do check this bakery out! 🤗
here’s to my all-time favourite pancake flavour from mr bean 🍫
the hazelnut chocolate filling was so rich and decadent, with crispy bits (which tasted a little like rice crackers?) encased within the fluffy pancake, adding a nice crunch that accompanied every single bite 😋 priced at $1.80, i believe this is an affordable sweet treat that could very well satisfy one's craving for chocolate :)
This has got to be my favourite bun from BreadTalk! It has walnuts encased within the bun, and its exterior is studded with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds. It has this nutty texture which I really love! I'm also a sucker for how good it smells when it's fresh out from the oven hehehehehe
green tea mochi with actual azuki beans (not the paste) encased within. not as chewy as your usual mochi and the texture sure feels a little odd. there is barely any matcha taste, and the azuki beans were a little too sweet for my liking.
would give this a 1.5/5 :( doubt I’d purchase it again
A multigrain bun studded with dried cranberries and mini pumpkin chunks, and dusted with some flour on the top of the bun. It tasted more sweet than savoury! One of my favourite buns from Four Leaves 😊
this creamy sweet potato is to die forrrrrr 😛
this was 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼!!!!!! purple sweet potato filing on the inside tasted v rich and creamy 😋
neglected these babies for the larger loafs at Duke Bakery but I finally bought them again!!! sadly, there's evidently less chocolate filling as compared to the first time I bought these buns ( they're still nice though, especially when I heat them up before eating hehe
