Ayam Gulai, bergedil (potato cake), kangkong and egg. A meat and 3 sides at $9 - not the cheapest. Order the flavourful chicken rendang though, as my more-knowing dad did. Packs a punch in flavour and not spicy, much better than the gulai. Ask for more of that rendang gravy. Now if only the dishes were piping hot instead of lukewarm..
Something about Indonesian flavours spells comfort. Nasi Kuning Betutu - fragrant turmeric rice with baked chicken in spices wrapped in plantain leaves. Then there's the eggy crisp-outside Tahu telur (beancurd in fried egg batter) with dark sweet sauce. And the bakmie, which is indo's answer to bak chor mee.
