LUNCH CHOICES
💰: Fried Horfun + "Wet" Horfun ($4 each)
🕚: 11am / short queue
🚇: Tanjong Pagar MRT Station • 7min walk
📍: Amoy Street Food Centre
There was a queue so we tried lol
Without disappointment, this stall with newspapers articles does sell above average quality food!
Beef horfun, which seems like their popular dish, can be cooked in 2 styles, dry and wet.
Both taste great. I can't choose one over another.
💰: Curry Chicken + Wintermelon Soup with Special Fishball (about $10)
🕚: 1115am / no queue
🚇: Tanjong Pagar MRT Station • 10min walk
📍: 2 Stanley Street
Not an easy-to-locate food place. Ask me if it's worth the walk and the price and I'd say if you're sick of Amoy and Maxwell, you can give this place a try.
It's a little warm and this stall mainly sells hot soups 😂
The soup of that day was really quite tasty and RICH.
Oh, they have different soups on different days. The big fishball as can be seen on top right of the photo contained some ingredients which tasted like fish eggs, except that it's brownish instead of orangish.
We tried its curry chicken too, not too oily and flavour was RICH. Didn't try the pumpkin rice which seems quite well known.
💰: Army Stew Combo for 2 without drinks (about $50 inclusive of GST and Service Charge)
🕚: 2pm / no queue
🚇: Bishan MRT Station • 3min walk
📍: Junction 8 #01-40
Wanted to eat the famous Bishan chicken rice but it was closed on Tuesday (two blur sotongs).
Searched the directory of Junction 8 for food and we decided to try Seoul Yummy for the first time 😎
The interior is divided into two distinct settings: romantic and soothing / bright and exciting, so you decide the atmosphere of your meal.
Ordered Army Stew. Chose potato pancake, which was worth our try, as complimentary appetizer. Food was acceptable and portion was humongous for two of us. Ladies, would suggest 3 share 1. Would be better if there were more ricecakes in the stew :')
Not difficult to cook as you just need to stir everything till it's edible LOL (Could be a good bonding session with friends and let you realize which are the lazy ones.)
💰: $9.90 NETT (Add on costs around $1 each, does not come with drink)
🕚: Reached at 11.30am • No queue (probably because it's not lunch time yet)
🚇: Tanjong Pagar MRT Station • 10min walk
📍: Level 3 (#03-22)
Have been having lunch quite frequently at Tanjong Pagar area as my best friend (boss) works around there. She didn't like to source for good food alone, so during Thursday when I drop by to meet her for lunch, we would always aim to try something new.
From her workplace, it was a long 10min walk under the sun. There's a nearer exit to 100am mall, please check/google before exiting the MRT station.
It's located at level 3, quite visible on the way up via escalator. There are about 6 main choices of salmons (cooked differently) + brown rice/salad/udon (of your choice) = $9.90.
Salmon was fresh; as good as that of standing Sushi bar (as mentioned by my boss); the sauce in which the salmon was mixed in was tasty! $9.90 for such fresh and decent portion of salmon is reasonable, if the rice portion can be bigger...my stomach would be perfectly satisfied :)
💰: $5 (Fish Soup/Normal) + 50cents (Rice/Medium)
🕚: Reached at 11.00am • Queued for about 8min
🚇: Tanjong Pagar MRT Station • 5min walk
📍: Level 2 (#02-129)
Have been having lunch quite frequently at Amoy/Maxwell food centre as my best friend (boss) works around there. She didn't like to queue alone, so she would wait for me to accompany her to try food with long queue.
Promised to get the famous fish soup for her so that she wouldn't have to waste her lunch break and queue for it. Lucky that there was only about 5 people in front of me when I started queueing at 11am.
Things were quick. One of them asked for our orders and the other collected money way before our food was ready.
Generous portion of fish slices; soup tasted sweet; fish slices tasted marinated for a long time. BUT we have to say the queue will get really crazy as it approaches 11.30am! Crazy it means about 20 people queueing for this humble bowl of fish soup.
Don't think it is "exceptionally" nice. Good to have a try. However, if there're more than 10 people in the queue, buddies, there're plenty of good food at Amoy :)
If you're in the CBD area (or don't mind the trip there from wherever you may be) you have to try the AhLiang Ipoh Hor Fun at the Amoy - stall 02-122.
Shredded chicken and smooth rice noodles go really well together in the rich herbal zhup that will leave you with the best aftertaste in the world. This is a meal you definitely won't want to brush your teeth after. Oh, and if you want the perfect trifecta, add on the deep fried fish dumplings. They're always so good fried to golden perfection, crunchy on the outside and bursting with flavours inside. Once the zhup gets in the mix, you'll definitely have something to write home about.
Oh, and if you're properly kiasu, you'll know to wait patiently for the uncle to pull out a freshly fried batch of dumplings. The tastiest 3rd degree mouth burns ever.
💰: $5 (Small) • $7 (Big)
🕚: Reached at 11.15am • Queued for about 15min
🚇: Tanjong Pagar MRT Station • 5min walk
📍: Level 1

Today, we decided to try the famous Noodle's Story. Before it was even open, it had already received a 10pax order. We waited till 11.15am for their command to start queueing. To our surprise, there were 4-5 customers waiting nearby before we arrived lol
We were pushed to being the fifth in the queue immediately. At least we have each other to talk cock with.
Instead of $5.50 that was quoted by most burpees, smallest size was priced at $7. Expensive but the ingredients used had made it look worth the price.
Boss commented that the egg had a sweet taste; the soup was awesomely thick and delicious; wantons had a whole fresh prawn in it; noodles were ramen-like. It was a fusion of Japanese and Hong Kong cuisine. My boss couldn't finish her share and I barely made it, so it was quite filling.
Not the usual wanton mee, its uniqueness has spilled over to its price 😂
Not your ordinary wanton noodles. Wantons stuffed with a whole prawn each, tender braised cha-shu, runny ramen-egg and an addictive potato prawn. $5.50, for a quality cross between ramen ingredients and wanton noodles. 😄 not forgetting the flavourful braised-with-pork soup
2.50 onwards. The lor mee isn't the famous lor mee at Amoy. But it is a big name at Albert St. The fried fish is g-o-o-d. And overall, I enjoyed the gravy and the noodles. Generous portions for price. On the other hand, beef noodles was meh.

Located at level 2, #02-117. Gotten the Large set at $4. Chilli was good but the pig intestines does have a slightly stronger taste.
