I have tried both the acclaimed Kin Kin Pan Mee versus my usual haunt- Super Kitchen. Not too sure what the hype is with the former but my personal preference tipped over to Super Kitchen. The noodles are less thick, rendering it easier to absorb the mix of flavours. The portions are much larger, ingredients are generous and I know many mentioned the Chilli in Kin Kin is potent. Personally, the Chilli at Super Kitchen is spicier with the added kick. However, the aroma of the lard is stronger with Kin Kin, that should be the key difference. Ergo, it all boils down to personal preference.

So a cursory tip off off the net suggested I'd get good Sam kan cheong pork noodles, found ourselves at the bygone part of Kepong town - only to realize there are 3 Sam Kan Cheong stalls here, which one? Instinctively gunned for the one I like. Turns out it is really satisfying, dry or wet version both has its own distinctive form, loved it!

No name of the stall. Foo Keong Restoran, Jalan Development, Taman Kepong, Kepong. Open: 6am to 4am.

Visited this new cafe trending and highly raved in Bangsar. Quite a letdown but I observe taking standards into context along with a broad stroke, the KL cafe scene is still relatively at its infancy stage. Take for eg this joint helmed by the trio of aussie owners, comes with the right fit with the right location and the right expat crowd, the authenticity is (supposed to be) on point, however, the execution in its menu is amateur- the eggs B is so meh. The coffee is not up to standard- I was expecting slightly better roast and that itself have been moderated, if you frequent coffee places you may understand what I mean. I have yet to visit a cafe here which aligns with my expectations. I suppose just as a society evolves and takes time to acquire the sophistication in its druthers, so would its scene that is generally reflective. Right now, it's still an obscure aggregation wrapped in a pretty gift wrap.
