Wa Don-Don is one of the best yakiniku restaurants frequent by Japanese in Singapore. We 100% enjoyed the beautiful cuts of high quality beef - beef skirt steak ($25) and tenderloin ($35) with the assorted sides ($13.50). 😍

Grab a table if you had not made your dinner plans! Wa Don-Don is running a 50% promo for their beef tongues on Monday! 🤤 Check out their Instagram (@wa_dondon_sg) for more info~ 😉

Weekends are not just for getting drunk, they’re also pretty much the only time I get to explore new bars & restaurants like @theparlourmirage. A fresh new bar that slings out Japanese dishes like yakitori platters & rice bowls alongside a bevy of beers straight from the tap, it’s my kinda place.⠀

The Chef’s Choice 1 yakitori platter ($15 nett) is categorised under ‘Grand Opening Special’, but I hope it’s a permanent menu fixture. It even comes with two sides, and I selected the very odd options of one deep fried mantou & some guacamole. As for the grilled goods themselves, they’re gloriously gratifying.⠀

The meats are all glazed in a titillating teriyaki sauce, and the pork belly (the duo of skewers at the front of the plate) was utterly unctuous. Felicitously fatty & marvellously meaty, each tender bite of porcine was positively pleasurable thanks to the addictively sticky sweet & salty flavours that were accentuated by the smokiness of the grill. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) behind it were kind of disappointing as they were dry & powdery in texture when I bit into it. Still, the teriyaki sauce was faultless, and I really appreciated the little bits of sweet onion that were thoroughly incorporated into the meatballs.⠀

As expected, the chicken thighs behind the tsukune were juicy, satisfyingly meaty, and sensationally sumptuous, thanks to the dynamic duo of teriyaki sauce & the charcoal grill. I usually hate eggplants/aubergines with a passion, but Mirage’s eggplant skewers might just help me to see the light. Seasoned with salt & yuzu, these gloriously grilled veggies were satisfyingly savoury with a sweet tang thanks to the yuzu that’s been applied. Y’know what, eggplant? Perhaps I judged you too harshly.⠀

As for the guac & fried mantou, they performed as expected. I was a little annoyed at the meagre amount of guacamole given, but it’s a free side dish after all. ⠀

So, what else can I say about Chef’s Choice 1? Well, when a chef makes choices this excellent, you’re in for a fabulously flavoursome fun time, and your enjoyment is no delusion.

There was lots of hype about this place over the course of the past few weeks and being a Japanese food lover; I just had to check it out. The first thing that caught my eyes were the prices, they look too unbelievably affordable to be true. I ordered this because I wanted a change from the usual ramen and boy was it the best decision. Kiwami is extremely generous with the portion of prawns and scallops which were well cooked because it usually becomes too dry or overcook when placed in fried rice. The rice too was well complemented by the ikura and egg. Honesty, I can't think of a reason why someone wouldn't give this place a try. You can probably find me coming back here for lunch very frequently!

Had been recently into different forms of fried rice of the late; just cannot resist a good plate of fried rice done either in Japanese or Taiwanese style. While the ramen and gyoza are the main highlights at Kiwami, the Mizayaki Wagyu Garlic Fried Rice is an item that is great to share across the table with the gyoza as well. Well-executed, the Garlic Fried Rice is pretty consistent in flavour throughout the entire portion; savoury, garlicky and not too greasy — the rice is also still pearly while speckled with egg and garlic chips for an extra fragrance. The beef comes pretty well-portioned; tender and savoury — quite flavourful on its own, and adds a meatiness to the rice and adds a good bite as well without being chewy or tough. An item that is comforting and delicious; something which we would crave for again considering how well-executed it is.

Awesome experience at this eating place. We opted Omakase style and Chef decides what we eat and this sushi buffet is really value-for-money. TOP 3 faves were aburi swordfish, white tuna, mentai ebi. Weekend lunch at $41.90++

From the new Koji Sushi Bar that had recently opened its doors at Raffles City Shopping Centre, replacing the lesser known Cedele outlet located at Level 3 of the mall.

Available exclusively at this outlet and only limited to 20 portions a day, the Tokubetsu Don features premium cuts of sashimi, Nagaimo Tororo (Japanese Mountain Yam paste), and a wobbly egg yolk sitting atop a bed of short-grain rice. Sliced in pretty chunky portions, the sashimi carried a good bite; there were enough sashimi to go along with the serving of rice beneath, and the sashimi slices being sized appropriately to ensure one could taste the freshness and flavours of the fish with a good portion of the rice beneath. While all the sashimi slices were amazingly fresh, the Uni was the most memorable; none of that fishy, funky flavour — just sweet, buttery and smooth. The Nagaimo Tororo sits beneath the egg yolk; helps to provide some moisture to the bowl whilst giving a slight sweetness and earthiness — mix in with the egg yolk for a silkier touch. The price tag of $29.00++ may not be affordable for all, but certainly a bowl that was pretty much a steal considering the addition of Uni and the overall quality; comes with salad and soup on the side as well.

Omg it is damn good! I will come back soon. Love the beancurd century egg and pork cheeks

This was one of the most indulgent sushis we have ever had. A slice of otoro was torched with a flame so that the fats within melted ever so slightly and coated the entire sushi with it oily richness before it was topped with a heaping of negitoro. The entire sushi was a pure bite of heaven -  fatty, oily, creamy, sweet, smoky and rich which immediately disintegrated on the tongue into a gooey viscosity.

Varying levels of creaminess from the elaborate webbing of fat within the wagyu beef and the velvety uni gave rise to a morsel of staggered layers of decadent tastes and textures. The savoriness of the fatty beef beautifully complemented the sweet and umami uni, with the little spheres of caviar bursting with a salty taste of the sea.

Rating: 4/5. Free flow sushi buffet, make-to-order. Comprises appetizers, sashimi, aburi, nigiri, Maki and handroll. Items include salmon belly, mentai, scallop, tobiko, bonito, aji, white tuna etc. special items for the weekend buffet include anago and ikura, at $10 more. #burpple #foodinsing #foodinsingapore #instafood #sushi #sushibuffet #buffet

One of the best Japanese food restaurant with reasonable price tag in CBD. It’s cosy little space
that fits at most 6 pax per table. It has became my number 1 to go place for Japanese food during work day now. The sushi here resembles those I had in Japan. 👍🏻

Got the $100 omakase set - incredible value and quality. Very generous with the quality of ingredients, featuring uni, otoro, and chutoro. Very well seasoned, 9 courses, and excellent presentation, service and quality. The same meal would easily go for double the price elsewhere. Cannot recommend more, will be back for sure!

Eat what? Dunno what to eat leh.. This place you eat before? Nice anot? What's good there?
