Came here on a weekday night for a quick dinner and was pleasantly surprised to chance upon this joint packed with both locals and (more importantly) Vietnamese folks eating here. They have an extensive menu beyond the regular Pho Bo (though thatās what I had) including even stuff that you usually only find in Vietnam including Vietnamese hotpot. Highly recommend if youāre craving some Viet food in the city and donāt want to drive all the way to Joo Chiat for your fix š
Love the mushrooms here which are soaked thoroughly and so flavorful. Each bite of mushroom brings with it a happy ooze of "chup". #burpple
Huge bowl for $13. Worth the queue! To be fair the queue looked v long but it moved quite efficiently. And this was only å°č¾£ļ¼Super sweat-inducing but also super shiok. Cannot imagine what it would have been like if we had chosen the more spicy levels. #confirmlaosai #burpple #malaxiangguo
Bak Kut Teh here is herbal- based and I love their signature dish, the Chew Pai Bak ($9.80), which refers to the pork shoulder. The cut, due to being an adequately exercised part, has a soft texture, balanced fat content and absorbs flavours easily, giving it a smooth, succulent yet non-greasy taste! [é»č®°ęøÆå¼äŗåé¢] - there was quite a queue, and pretty obvious why. The mountain of eggy noodles were firm and qq, the thick gravy was flavourful and surprisingly not too heavy on the palate. Lightly charred char siew, some bits were a little dry but overall pretty good. Wanton filling was good with crunchy water chestnuts(?), soup was tasty too! All these for only $3.30.
