Sanook offers pretty affordably priced Thai dishes, but we were quite disappointed by the flavours here in their Kallang Wave Mall outlet. This Pad Thai was one of the more decent ones, but a little too sweet. Our favorite dish amongst all that we had was the creamy Green Curry.
I usually donât get myself more than 1-2 servings of Thai-style fried omelettes because of how oily they normally are, but this I had so much of! It stayed nicely crisp throughout our meal, so you donât have to worry about leaving it aside while digging into the other dishes. It was seasoned just right too.
It came with a very decent amount of crab meat, but the crab didnât lend much of a flavour to the omelette itself, as it was more of a topping. So unless youâre specifically craving for it, go for the more affordable Pork/Chicken Omelette ($13.90).
Had an impressive authentic Thai meal at Ros Lamul that Iâm already making plans to return to try more dishes!
If youâre craving for ganjang gejang but donât want to make a hole in your pocket, this is a really good alternative đ Doused in an appetising spicy sauce, the raw crabs were fleshy, very fresh and easy to make your way through. If I had more stomach space, Iâd be getting more rice to pair with the sauce heh.
Got to be careful with the spice level though, it looks quite harmless, but the spice is the kind that gradually grows at the back. Super shiok (!!), but if youâre not a huge fan of spice, you can request for them to tone it down a notch. They also do the raw prawns here.
Quite a decent homely rendition, was a pretty comforting bowl thatâs not too spicy or sour. Itâs $18 for the medium and $24 for the large.
Tribeca is a multi menu concept bistro and this was from Thai Panâs menu. Thank you @tribecasg for having us! â¨
Wasnât intending to eat but couldnât resist just ordering a bowl of tom yum soup since we were already here at Golden Mile đ Love clear ones so thatâs what we got. Was an average one, the spicy kick was definitely there, but was too salty to have on its own. Felt the saltiness also overwhelmed the other spices and flavours. It came with fishballs, fish, squid, mushrooms and prawns.
Other than mookata, Noshkata also offer these mini steamboats fit for a pax - Tom Yum Hotpot and Army Stew ($11.90). This was a decent rendition that came mildly spicy.
The meat platter we had was huge with their Nosh pork belly, garlic pork belly, pork belly, hua diao chicken, cumin chicken, bulgogi chicken, black pepper pork collar and smoked duck. Meats were all marinated well and thoroughly, though we did find a few of them a tad bit saltier than we would have liked. They also have 3 different chilli dips for you to pair with.
Thank you @noshkata_grill for having us! â¨
Thought I wouldnât be a fan of this cause of the nacho cheese, but they were generous with the mozzarella that helped to balance out the sweetness from the nacho. Quite shiok to dip with the meats!
Thank you @noshkata_grill for having us! â¨
Hawker mookata dinner the other night with Noshkata Grill thatâs tucked in Sembawang Hills Food Centre. Their menu is pretty huge and quite affordable priced. If you have difficulty deciding from the ala carte, theyâve made it easier with their different platters to opt for. We had the meat platter that had smoked duck + a variety of pork collar, pork belly and chicken marinated in different styles - all with a cheese dip thatâs made with nacho cheese and mozzarella. Other interesting ingredients we spotted were bak kwa, shishamo & garlic bread, along with additional army stew & tom yum hot pot options.
Thank you @noshkata_grill for having us!â¨
Came by to satisfy our cravings for tom yum and it was pretty good! Apart from the usual flat rice noodles, they added mushrooms, fish, prawns and chicken chunks - quite a good amount for the price tag. Would have liked the smoother type of rice noodles as this didnât seem to soak up the broth as well, but the broth was flavourful. Itâs not that spicy, so add on the chilli padi to your liking!
Still the best Thai stir-fried vermicelli weâve had locally so far! Learnt from our lesson previously and went for the medium instead of small so that we have more to go around. đ Loved that strong hei, crunchy beansprouts and the super generous portion of fresh prawns and squid. If youâre not a fan of seafood, they also have chicken and pork options.
Had their red tom yum the first time we came and tried the clear version for a change this time. If you havenât visited Dee Tongue Thai, their spice levels are much higher than what youâd find at other stalls, so make sure you inform them if you need them to drop the heat! This bowl had lots of fresh prawns and squid in a tangy spicy broth that we wiped clean easily. Loved how flavourful it was even though I found it just a touch too salty. Will be back for this again! The small portion is good for 2.
